21.01.2022 ON THE MOVE | I'm super excited to be joining the Wellshare Community in this GORGEOUS new space in the Dymocks Building, Sydney. . I will be consulting there on Tuesday and Wednesday. Appointments can be made via my website. www.joannekennedy.com.au... #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathy

21.01.2022 > It's not uncommon for people to have adverse reactions to methylfolate. > Simply prescribing methylfolate to 'fix' an MTHFR gene mutation is often not the solution. > If you are getting adverse reactions such as:... Anxiety Irritability Depression Insomnia Heart palpitations Headaches Rash. > You have started to push the methylation cycle and it's started to do its job of hormone detoxification, histamine breakdown, neurotransmitter balancing. > However, if you have issues with inflammation, histamine overload, hormonal imbalance, mood and neurotransmitters issues, these need to be dealt with first before you start methylfolate as it can exacerbate these problems.

16.01.2022 The different types of Vitamin B12 have different roles in the body. It's important to understand which Vitamin B12 will be best for you, especially if you have #mthfr. CYANCOBALAMIN > Used in many ‘retail’ supplements. It's not metabolised or utilised as effectively as other forms of Vitamin B12.... METHYLCOBALAMIN > Methylcobalamin is neurological B12. > The form used in methylation to take methylfolate into the methionine cycle to make SAM (methyl donor). > Can cause side effects of headache, nervousness, jitteriness, itching, anxiousness. HYDROXYCOBALAMIN > This form is very well tolerated and unlikely to cause side effects. > Hydroxycobalamin will convert into adenoslycobalamin and methylcobalamin depending on what the body requires. > This hydroxyl form is good for people with low homocysteine as it will mop up nitric oxide caused by a CBS pathway up regulation. > Use this form if you are not sure if you will have an adverse reaction to methylcobalamin. . ADENOSYLCOBALAMIN > Involved in the conversion of methylmalonyl-CoA to succinyl-CoA in the Krebs Cycle. The Krebs cycle is the body’s energy cycle inside each cell. > This form is currently not available for sale in Australia

16.01.2022 > Low #Homocysteine (<7.0 umol/L) is a significant finding on a blood test. > Doctors often disregard it. > Signs and symptoms of low homocysteine.... Dizziness Low blood pressure Can't tolerate sulfur foods (garlic, onions, eggs, brassicas) Brain fog Irritability Headache Fatigue Mental confusion Gut issues Low B6 (pyrroles) And Much More!! > Homocysteine can be low due to: > Inflammation and oxidative stress caused by infection and tissue damage will increase the body’s need for glutathione. Since the production of glutathione requires homocysteine, an increased demand for glutathione will deplete homocysteine. > Low protein intake. This is because homocysteine is made from methionine, which is an amino acid that you get from eating protein (animal protein in particular). Foods high in methionine include beef, eggs and fish. > Low sulphur intake. This is because the body will break down homocysteine to make cysteine (a sulphur containing amino acid). > Poor digestion and inadequate hydrochloric acid as you need proper gut functioning to absorb protein and utilise the amino acids. > Taking too much methylfolate, methylB12 and Vitamin B6 in a homocysteine lowering supplement for too long. > Taking pyrrole compounds with high dose Vitamin B6 for too long.

12.01.2022 Folic Acid blocks the uptake of your natural folate leading the #methylfolate deficiency. Those with #MTHFR will be more at risk
