13.01.2022 Wishing all Ready Steady Golfers, their families, carers, disability service providers and supporters a very Happy New Year! 2019 was a fabulous year with stro...ng participation, many trying golf for the first time and others who term by term have continued to enjoy developing their skills and making new friends. Thank you to the WA Golf Foundation for growing the game in WA and for enabling this program to thrive. I would also like to thank the RSG team of Anna-Maria, John & Yvonne for their passion and dedication towards the program. Not forgetting all at the Vines Resort & Country Club and our friends at the Swan Districts Lions Club for their support. Highlights this year included the visit of USLPGA Champion and WA Golf Foundation Ambassador Hannah Green, who took part in one of our sessions and seeing the amazing Jeremy Dale Golf Show thanks to 'Making Lives Better'. We also had a lot of fun showcasing Ready Steady Golf at the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth tournament. 12.01.2022 New Australian Golf Centre can be a boon for golfers with disability Golfers with a disability in Australia, and the professional coaches who inspire them, will... benefit following the decision to build a state-of-the-art facility in Victoria. The Australian Golf Centre will be the new headquarters for Golf Australia, PGA of Australia, Golf Victoria and Sandringham Golf Links Management; located in the heart of Melbournes Sandbelt, opposite the world-renowned Royal Melbourne Golf Club. The $18.8 million project will provide coaching facilities to showcase Australias inclusive programmes, including becoming the home of the industrys accreditation programme for training PGA professionals to coach people with a disability. Golf Australia has been an EDGA member since 2017 and its work is highly respected internationally for its open and inclusive approach in supporting players with disability, and in helping players of all abilities to reach their potential. The facility will feature a new public 30-bay driving range with target greens, the redevelopment of the existing 18-hole golf course, a public café, and the National High Performance Centre including a short game practice area with a large chipping zone for the high performance programme. The projected completion date for these works is April 2021. PGA of Australia chairman Rodger Davis said: The Australian Golf Centre will help unify golfs peak bodies and create efficiencies that will introduce more participants to our great game. EDGA Head of Development Mark Taylor said: It is fantastic to see the collaboration of the leading golf organisations in Australia striving forward in developing provision for golfers with disabilities.
