24.01.2022 The Australian Campdraft Association (ACA) advise the cessation of all campdraft events, nationwide, until further notice. This decision was handed down by the ...National Campdraft Council of Australia (NCCA) and includes the CQ Campdraft ACA National Finals that were planned to be held in Nebo next month. ACA supports NCCA’s direction, and are of the belief that it would be irresponsible to condone activities that may or may not contravene the public health directive. Campdrafting, as with many other sports, is non-essential. Furthermore, campdrafting is held in remote areas, but draws competitors and attendees from very broad geographic locations. Whilst we are aware that the Federal Government has directed event organisers to cease any events where over 500 people are expected to attend, ACA supports NCCA’s cessation of all campdrafts, regardless of size. In doing so, ACA have considered the already limited resources available to our regional health care centres and the originating population from which competitors & attendees are drawn. ACA consider that continuing to operate in light of these factors would be inconsiderate, and disregarding the best medical & government advice available. This decision will be reviewed at the 1 May 2020, with further information to be released after this date.

22.01.2022 Just a reminder our venue is and continues to be closed to all bookings due to Covid 19 regulations. This has been a tough committee decision considered thoroughly, we will make an announcement when we open again.

22.01.2022 Congratulations Jenny Tully, (our awesome grants officer for the mount isa committee) won the ladies draft at Boulia today, yay go Jenny

19.01.2022 From the moment you all left the grounds last year we had our new ideas and check lists in place while the dust was still settling. We hit 2020 like a bull at a gate so eager to organise our annual big event. However, unfortunately COVID 19 had other plans. Like most committees we have had to make a hard decision and due to restrictions yet to have lifted enough, the Mount Isa Campdraft is unable to run this year.... We thank those who have been sitting on the rail with us patiently waiting, our generous sponsors, cattle donors, judges, competitors, our ever dedicated committee and volunteers. We look forward to a brighter and better coming year. Stay safe and keep well, can't wait to see all our old friends and to meet some new ones. See you in 2021.

Thank you so much to all who shared this post to help get the word out. ----------------------------------------...---- Does anyone own this horse? This horse was dropped off at the Julia Creek Livestock Centre on 6 August and still has not been picked up. Images below show the horse and the truck that dropped it off. If this is your horse or you know who it belongs to, contact the Council Ranger on 0428 464 004.

09.01.2022 In 2020 the Mount Isa Campdraft were successful in their application for funding from Glencore Queensland Metals to install two big roller doors to assist with security and weather measures. We would like to sincerely thank them for their assistance in being able to complete the project and can't wait to test them out when that lazy southern breeze is battering us this winter. While also being helpful during events held at the Mount Isa Campdraft Grounds. Thanks to Tony and his team from Isa's KanDu.

08.01.2022 Drop on out and support a great club this weekend.

04.01.2022 Venue update: We would like to thank all of you that have shown an interest in hiring the Mount Isa Campdraft Grounds. On Saturday the 6th of February a new committee was sworn in at the AGM. During the General Meeting after the AGM there were some changes made to the terms and conditions of hiring the grounds. Currently the new and ongoing committee are rewording the documents to have them ready for when the grounds can be hired out. ... The Mount Isa Campdraft Grounds are a unique venue, in that we are a non for profit organisation, and the very small committee we have are all volunteers. This means that sometimes it is not possible to respond to your messages and emails for a few days as we all work and have families, so please be patient. Currently the grounds are closed to events as we have builders working on the kitchen and bar area. We are hoping that this work will be completed within the next few weeks, so venue hire can resume. Please note that there will be a few changes to venue hire once we are able to resume, these include: - An increase in the hire of the grounds pricing. - Due to the uniqueness of the venue anyone hiring the grounds will be required to complete their own COVID Safe plan or checklist (depending on numbers at your event) to be submitted and signed to both our committee and the QLD Government (depending on which plan you are required to do), in conjunction with ours. - Local police will be notified of all events at the grounds and they are well within their rights to do spot checks to ensure your COVID Plan is being fully complied to. - No camping will be allowed on the grounds during or after an event unless a full COVID Plan has been submitted to the QLD Government. - The venue will need to be handed back to the committee cleaned to COVID Health standards. - You will also require your own Public Liability Insurance for your event as will any contractor that you use. Before contacting the committee to book the venue for an event, please ensure you are willing to meet all of these requirements. These are the minimum requirements we have to meet in order to be allowed to hire out the grounds under the current climate.

03.01.2022 The Mount Isa Campdraft Assoc. Inc. would like to sincerely thank the Rotary Club of Mount Isa Inc for their extremely generous support of our club. These funds will go towards purchasing a Compact Disc Harrow to help prep our arena throughout the year and much needed office equipment. We would like to congratulate all of the clubs and organisations whom also were supported by the Rotary Club.
