25.01.2022 Always was, always will be. Listen to Aunty Lorraine Brown and her sister, Narelle Thomas tell the story of how Mt Keira was named.

22.01.2022 The camp is so visually stunning lately, I'm so lucky to live and work at a place as beautiful as this.

21.01.2022 That was a loud enough crack of thunder to throw the camera of the windowsill. Frightened this old possum. It's a bit of a storm alright.

17.01.2022 I love when I get to see another view, Martin and I were recently up at the tanks, this view looks south over Mt Nebo towards Lake Illawarra.

16.01.2022 This was fun, Thanks to Sue, John and Santa for bringing a little Christmas magic to the camp and many happy children. I had my 5 boys and their partners up and can't wait to see the photos.

16.01.2022 As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us, as we remember them. Lest we Forget.

15.01.2022 Let's talk about the Pool, which is also 80 years old. EDITED to all that this is not a public pool, we are on private property, the pool is for the use of Scouts and organised youth groups who hire the property only. Please don't come up hoping for a swim :) From the Memoirs of David Walsh. 'The area selected to build the pool was at the head of a steep gully, through which ran a non perennial creek, across the head of this gully an area large enough to contain the pool wa...s excavated. The concrete foundation and the walls were built by workers from the Construction Department of the Steel Works and the high quality of their construction speaks for itself' The pool was basically built on a geologically unstable creek bed and the amount of movement after 80 years is so slight there hasn't been need for any major structual repairs. A pool with the most amazing view of the Mt Keira Summit still visible. Swimming alongside a rainforest, there is nothing quite like it

14.01.2022 Lets play a game. Who has the best driveway. I win!

10.01.2022 getting ready for the water purification plant to be commissioned, we had the water tanks cleaned today. They had to empty them to do it, the sound of 200000 ltrs of water gushing down the hill was traumatic, i'm hoping they don't take long to fill up again. On a good note, the tanks are cleaner than they've been in years.

08.01.2022 The Lodge is the focal point of the Camp and is a timber and sandstone building with a huge sandstone fireplace in the main hall with its panelled walls, timber beams and cathedral roof, it was designed and built by architect Geoffrey Loveridge, the same designer who built Glennifer Bray & fully financed by the very generous Sid Hoskins. These photos show the Lodge in 1940 and 80 years later. It's changed but hasn't. We've tried hard to keep any necessary repairs to be true to the original design.

07.01.2022 Today you can take a look inside our 80 year old Lodge, there isn't a comparison photo but as you already know, any modifications or repairs have been undertaken with respect to the vision of Sid Hoskins. The Tallow Wood floor, the Sandstone walls and our beautiful Arched doorway have remained as they were when the place was built. I have a full undertanding of how very lucky I am to walk amongst all this history, not only the camp but the Mountain as well, with all the dreamtime stories associated with it. There is a feeling attached to this place <3

07.01.2022 This tree and rock are entwined, I sometimes think that the rock is saying, I've got you. I love how trees can even grow like this.

06.01.2022 On a hot day like today The Glen is the place to be. It's a cool paradise.

02.01.2022 Happy Birthday to Mt Keira Scout Camp. We turned 80 yesterday, this coming weekend we were having a huge birthday bash and you were all going to be invited. We all know what happened with that so we are having our 80+1 birthday bash next November. Next week I'll be sharing some photos taken in the 1940s and comparing them with current photos so keep an eye out for those.
