22.01.2022 Thanks to all those who came out in force on Saturday for our market, it had such a beautiful vibe. We were thrilled to welcome some new stallholders, including That Juice Bar, Tru Blu Aussie Pies, The Nomadic Bar and Meshousheh - Gourmet Hummus We were host to a bouquet making workshop, run by the ever-talented Villa Floretti Flowers Boneo with all participants walking away with a stunning bunch of flowers We continued to extend our zero-waste focus by introducing a har...d to recycle station for all your batteries, electrics, ink cartridges and toothbrushes/toothpaste tubes, to name a few (more on that later, but do start to collect your items for our next market). Thanks to Boomerang Bags for the innovation! As always, the vibrant fresh produce was a highlight and we loved being able to fill up our essentials at Roving Refills Frankston. See you next time, Saturday 4th April!

19.01.2022 It is with much sadness that we must inform you that our final Twilight Market, planned for Friday 20th March, has been cancelled. We received a directive from the Mornington Peninsula Shire and Mt Martha House Community Centre to cancel the market over parking and safety concerns. We tried our best to find a solution that worked for all; however, the decision was out of our control. Wed like to thank you, our beautiful and supportive community for getting behind this season...al market. Were sorry we didnt get to go out with a bang and a celebratory drink. If youd still like to stock up on fresh produce in the interim, please pop into one of the many farm gates in the area, such as Mossy Willow Farm or Torello Farm. And, as always, please come on down to our Saturday market on the 1st Saturday of the month, our next one being the 4th April. Thanks again for your support x See more

18.01.2022 Now here is an event that is close to our heart Mt Martha Farmers Market is delivered by Sustainable Table who also run a community grants program called #RipeforChange to support grassroots food system programs. In a beautiful synergy, one of our stallholders Mossy Willow Farm, will be hosting a Ripe for Change grant recipient Free to Feed at their farm for a very special event on 7th March (just make sure you hit our market first ) There are two events (11am or 3.30pm),... delivered to celebrate cultural diversity through delicious food! The 3-hour experience will begin with a tour of the Mossy Willow Farm, learning first hand about their local food system and the incredible work theyre doing. The Mossy Willow Barn will then be transformed into a Middle Eastern kitchen where Free to Feed instructors, Shahnaz (Iran) and Sundus (Iraq), will lead you in cooking treasured dishes from their home countries using freshly harvested Mossy Willow produce and ingredients from all over the Mornington Peninsula. The experience will finish with an epic feast shared on the barns deck surrounded by nature and feeling nurtured by a like-minded community. 18.01.2022 Despite current restrictions, we'd like to remind you to try your darnedest to maintain your BYO hero status! Wherever you're doing your shop right now, you can still carry your own produce bags for fruit and veg, cloth grocery bags, reusable coffee cups and all the tools to help combat the war on waste. We know it's a little tricky at the moment - being in the midst of a pandemic - but the GOOD news is that reusable containers (I.e. reusable coffee cups) have been confirmed ...to NOT increase the risk of COVID-19 transmission! These findings are detailed in a statement that has been signed by almost 130 scientists and health experts from a whopping 19 countries around the world. You can check out this statement in the link below and also read about Sarah Wilson wonderful research and resources on the topic. So as an incentive (and just a damn scary stat) did you know that 500+ billion disposable coffee cups are produced every year? The majority of these disposable coffee cups have a thin plastic lining to prevent liquids from leaking meaning they actually CANNOT be recycled. We know it’s different with every cafe during this time, but it’s okay and perfectly legal to respectfully ask your local spot about taking reusable coffee cups. Sarah Wilson and Responsible Cafes share many ideas around contactless pours to support cafes to implement safe practices. So say no to single-use items with us - it's the small things that make the biggest difference. We see and appreciate all of you, you beautiful BYO heroes! https://www.sarahwilson.com//yep-can-use-keep-cup-covid-1/

17.01.2022 Hello lovely friends and supporters. Well, we didnt quite imagine our market would be paused for this long. But one thing is certain and that is our stallholders need our support more than ever. They have lost so many market, event and hospitality avenues for sale. Over the coming weeks we will be sharing all the amazing ways our stallholders have pivoted to try and stay afloat (if pivot isnt the word of the year, we dont know what is ) Stay tuned... #BuyLocal #SupportLocal #SupportYourLocal #Covid19CantStopUs #CommunityLiving #CommunityMinded #MtMarthaFarmersMarket #MMFM #Stallholders #MtMartha #MountMartha #Morningtonpeninsula #buylocalmorningtonpeninsula

12.01.2022 There is no denying that farmers markets have lost that buzz and soul were used to like many other activities that traditionally encourage socialising and community cohesion. However, this by no means diminishes the critical role farmers markets continue to play in delivering healthy, ethical food to eaters, whilst supporting our local economy and food growers. Resilience is born from the ground up. Thats why were so disappointed we werent able to deliver our market to the Mt Martha community today. We hope youre all staying safe and finding other local avenues to support our food producers x

08.01.2022 We hope you are staying safe and well during these uncertain and stressful times. We have been a little quiet of late as we work hard behind the scenes to find a way for our market to continue. Unfortunately, the Shire has released updated guidelines that make it impossible to operate our market on Saturday 4th April. Although we are disappointed, we recognise the safety of the community should be a priority, its just disheartening that whilst large supermarkets and shopping... centres remain open, our small producers are left without support to continue to provide incredible, safe, local food to their community. Were currently looking at ways we can still serve the Mt Martha community, in support of our incredible stallholders and you, the customers. Were currently exploring online options, amongst other things, so will keep you posted. If you have any ideas or would like to get involved in finding a solution, wed love to hear from you! #mtmarthafarmersmarket #farmersmarket #sustainabletable #supportlocal #local #vegetables #victoria #fruit #covid19 #coronavirus #covid-19

06.01.2022 It's time for a GOOD news story! We are very proud to share Sustainable Table’s partnership with Mount Martha House Community Garden, who are building a community garden in the heart of Mt Martha at the Mount Martha House Community Centre (where our market is located). After receiving both Heritage and Shire approval, the garden is moving ahead and we couldn't be more excited. As such, the garden is welcoming ALL volunteers (green thumbs and non-green thumbs alike) and donati...ons to get the garden up and growing! Do you have a spare couple of hours a week or month? You do not need to have gardening experience, just a fab attitude and willingness to get your hands dirty! But do not fear, if gardening is not your (home-grown) jam, help is still required for fundraising, grants, membership and admin assistance, maintenance and anything else you can offer. Your help can be small, it can be tall; whatever you're able to offer, the House and Community Garden is just that - a community of wonderful people, making a difference where they can. So pop over to the Mt Martha House Community Garden page and shoot them a DM, sharing your availability and skills, or email Robyn at [email protected]! We're so excited to see the garden grow x
