22.01.2022 COVID UPDATE: CONTACT TRACING REINSTATED TOMORROW From Saturday December 5th, as a gym we are required to maintain contact registers for WA Health Department COVID-19 contact tracing as part of the updated regulations.... We will have both a paper sign in register and a QR code for the SafeWA App as of Saturday the 5th of December. It is up to you which one you prefer to use. Everyone is required to sign in prior to using the gym equipment every time you attend the gym. The WA Government has developed a free app, SafeWA, which will provide businesses with a digital contact register system. You can download the SafeWA app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store or use the link off the SafeWA website. You do not have to have the App to attend MTM Rehab Gym, however if you are not using the App to sign in you will have to sign in on the paper register instead. Contact register details will be kept for 28 days. With the border restrictions becoming more relaxed we would also like to remind everyone to please keep up with hygiene protocols, this is not a time to become complacent but all the more important to be diligent. We will continue to clean regularly used surfaces and provide hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes around the gym. We ask that you please continue with: - Sanitising or washing your hands on entry and regularly - Temperature check on entry (you do not need to record this, just a self-check and an honesty system) - Bring a towel every session and use it on the equipment - Wipe down each piece of equipment after use using the cleaning equipment provided - Practise social distancing - Use a tissue or your arm/elbow if you need to cough or sneeze - Staying home if you are unwell We would like to thank you all for being so diligent so far and for helping to keep the gym feeling safe. We have loved having out little gym community back and we want to keep in that way! If you have any questions or concerns then please get in touch either via email, phone or in the gym. With love The MTM Rehab Team Jess, Kate, Keira and Ben

17.01.2022 To fundraise money for the Cancer Council we invite you to come along and share in Australias Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday the 23rd of May in the gym from 10-11am. We have recently lost two young beautiful women to cancer who were MTM gym members. Daily we work with people with and recovering from cancer, carers and those left behind. If you are planning on popping in please let one of the staff know and if you would like to provide a plate of food that would be greatly... appreciated. A gold coin donation (or anything extra!) can be swapped for a cup of tea and treat on the day and if you cannot attend any small donation would still be appreciated. See the donation box in the gym to contribute throughout the week. During 10-11am your workout space will be limited so please work around us for one day. Any questions please speak to Kate. 12.01.2022 Set yourself up for a win by setting yourself goals Cheryl challenged herself to ride 100km in March, dug her heels in and got it done When goal setting remember the SMART principles: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-based. Take Cheryls goal as an example... . Specific - Cycle 100km. Not a vague get fitter approach. Measurable - 100km. She committed to a defined number. Attainable - Cheryl worked out how long she normally cycled for in the ...gym and boosted the km up to a number she could achieve if she attended the gym consistently and didnt slack on her cardio time. Relevant - Cheryl is going on holidays soon so wants to increase her aerobic fitness before she goes. Time-based - She gave herself the month of March. No extensions! She finished on Friday the 29th and is one happy gal Speak to our Exercise Physiologists is you need some help planning your health and fitness goals! #madetomove #mtmgymfam #exercisephysiology See more

05.01.2022 Exercise & Arthritis Great post from @adammeakins about the misbeliefs and fear towards exercising with arthritis. More and more the research shows us that exercise should be a primary part of management of arthristis. ... Not only is it safe and not harmful for the joints but can also help to reduce inflammation, improve cartilage composition, reduce pain and improve function. It can also help to delay or even avoid surgery altogether. It is important for both health professionals and patients to have a good understanding about how arthritis works and the role that exercise plays in its management.
