25.01.2022 It takes a bit of organising - but we have a great team. It all starts around April, and things sort of drift along until the middle of the year when all the information goes out, the requests to council are sent in, and we start gathering sponsors and raffle prizes. Near the end we do spend a bit of time organising the raffle prizes and making sure all the stallholders are on board. All the while - anxiously watching the weather reports! Thank you to our wonderful team and all the other people who volunteer on the day. And a reminder that we always have room for more helpers.

24.01.2022 A huge shout out to everyone from near and far who came to our Christmas Parade and Street Party. It was fantastic to see all your smiling faces as we came together as a community to celebrate the coming festive season. Apologies if anyone is missed but there are quite a few people to thank.... We must thank all the stallholders for coming along and sharing their wares with us. The food was definitely popular with most selling out. We hope you enjoyed it and will join us again next year. To the participants who paraded from Talunga Park to the Soldier's Memorial Hall in the heat, well done. You all looked amazing! To the Marananga Town Band, and the On The Edge Choir - thank you for entertaining the crowds this evening during the street party. It was lovely listening to you all. To all those who helped with the setting up early in the day, and the packing away of everything this evening, thank you for your help. It is always greatly appreciated, and means it is less of a mammoth task because of it. To all of the sponsors who donated time, gifts, and money - thank you. Your generosity is always welcome, and makes it possible to put on this great event. Finally, a massive shout out must go to everyone on the committee who made today possible. Without this group of dedicated volunteers, this event wouldn't happen year after year. It is a lot of hard work but the payoff is worth it. The event has been going now for over thirty years, and hopefully will continue for many more. We will share some highlights over the next few days for all to see. Until then, it is now time for some sleep. Night all, and thank you

23.01.2022 It is finally here! . The Mount Pleasant Christmas Parade and Street Party are on TODAY! . Weather forecasts are for a bright, sunny, and warm 26C, which couldn't be more perfect.... . Just a few things to remember: . Road closures along Melrose Street start at 5pm, so please remove your vehicles from the main street prior to then. We need to have the room for all the stalls along the road, as well as the patrons, and more importantly for the parade itself. We must also have the space for any emergency vehicle access should it be required. Your assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. . The parade is due to start at 5:30pm. We ask all participants in the parade to be at Talunga Park by 4:30pm if possible. . This is a free community event for all, so no tickets are required. Just come along with friends and family, and enjoy the day. . Please also remember to have cash on hand as not all stallholders will have EFTPOS or credit card facilities. There will not be any ATM facilities at the event. . Most importantly, have fun, be safe, be respectful, and remember that this is a family event for all ages - very young to the young at heart. . We look forward to seeing all of you later today! . Until then... See more

21.01.2022 As the nitty gritty can be done online, we have made the decision to not get too fussed about trying to hold a meeting in April. We will hold one when we are able, in the meantime, preparations will go ahead in the background. We are always open to suggestions and offers of help, so please feel free to respond on this page.

20.01.2022 Uploading photos slowly - there were a lot! There were many with Father Christmas this year, and some lovely shots of the kids' reactions. Father Christmas certainly enjoyed it! More of the rest to come.

19.01.2022 Dear All, As the situation with COVID-19 drags on, the committee are hesitant about holding an event this year. We are aware that this may disappoint many people, but feel that there is a strong possibility that it may not be permitted anyhow. To that end, we are thinking of having a meeting to discuss our options. At this stage we are thinking of a daytime meeting at 4.30pm on Tuesday 11th August. We are happy to hear any feedback or suggestions.

14.01.2022 Like many small towns across the country, Mount Pleasant no longer has a bank, or any 24hr ATM's. Not all of our wonderful stallholders will have any EFTPOS facilities available to make purchases either. We thought it best to let you know this in advance so that you don't arrive without any cash, and you find yourselves not being able to make any purchases.... There is an ATM located at the Klose's Foodland in Birdwood if you find yourselves needing one. #friendlyreminder #nobank #noatm #needcash #market #marketstalls #countrytown #mountpleasant #mtpleasant #christmasmarket #christmasstreetparty #dontforget

09.01.2022 What a perfect day! At last, we had great weather, and a fantastic turnout! Thank you to all those who entered the Parade. The Winner for Best Float was the Viking Longship, Best Community Float was Springton Primary School and Best Vehicle was the bronze Hot Rod. There are a LOT of photos of children with Father Christmas, and he really enjoyed interacting with them. If anyone would like a higher resolution photo, please feel free to contact us and we'll get you an electronic copy. The kids were delightful and Father Christmas' elf and the photographer got many laughs out of it.
