25.01.2022 "You can spend your entire life waiting for perfect. The perfect job. The perfect partner. The perfect opponent. Or you can acknowledge that there is always a better time or a better place or a better opportunity and refuse to let that fact hold you back from doing everything to make the present moment the perfect moment." ~ Ronda Rousey ~

23.01.2022 Some great coverage for us in the last few days. We mustn't forget the vision here is about creating an Adventure Tourism Playground that employs Tasmanians, augments existing tourist attractions, provides access to the environment for everyone, opens up new opportunities for competitive and non competitive sports for all ages (incl schools) and building aspirations in our youth. Considering its merits solely in terms of a Cableway (as great as it will be) would sell it short. https://www.google.com.au//8ffeae756d88cbfbf576aa6feeb05aa

22.01.2022 Mt Roland Cableway update We recently completed two independent feasibility studies in relation to the cableway project, both of which returned pleasing results. Our first study focused on the cableway system itself, to transport passengers (and sporting equipment) to and from the mountain top. The study found the cableway proposal to be "both technically and financially feasible and attractive for its economic and external benefits to the communities involved" (AEC Group L...td). The second study looked specifically at the merits of developing a gravity assisted mountain bike park, consisting of a network of trails from the mountain top back to the cableway base station. The concept design proposes construction of an initial 12 trails approximating 53km in combined length, suitable for beginner to professional levels of rider ability. The study found Mt Roland had the potential of offer a "truly unique and iconic mountain biking experience" (Dirt Art), one which we think should be pursued. The studies provide us with confidence to progress the project into the second stage of design and planning applications. And we are excited at all the opportunities this project creates within the region, a region we argue is one of the most beautiful on this planet. We look forward to providing more news on our project as it comes to hand.

19.01.2022 We'd just like to take a few moments in this festive season to thank all of our new and long time likers. This has been an extraordinary journey for us and we are grateful for all the support and encouragement you have all provided along the way. We wish you all the very best pursuing your own aspirations in 2017. Don't hold back, seize the day.

17.01.2022 We thought it timely we provide an update on our progress with the Mt Roland Cableway Project. For the sake of simplicity, this project can be broken down into 3 stages. As you read this, we are nearing completion of the first stage having, amongst other things, engaged a surveying company to map the ground terrain and tree canopy of the proposed Cableway route, from the base station to the mountain top. This will help confirm our project cost range and that there are no ins...urmountable obstacles in the cableway’s proposed path. There are a number of things that will influence the final, optimal, cableway design. These include the: type of rock the cableway will be anchored to; and, desired passenger capacity per hour; and, cableway span length; and, gradient of climb to the mountain top; and, range of weather condition we wish to operate within These, amongst other considerations, feed into the final design to be funded by the expected number of passenger rides. You should note our design choice is a single span Cableway to the mountain top, without intermittent gantry towers, of some 2km in length. Twenty years ago such a proposal would have required involved cutting edge engineering. Yet today, a span of 2km is eclipsed by Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort’s Peak 2 Peak Gondola - the longest unsupported single span of cable in the world at just over 3km. We are not proposing anything that hasn’t been done before. I’ll take this cue to restate we have no interest in proposing a loss making, white elephant of a Cableway. The numbers need to add up. We want this project to achieve positive social outcomes - reduced underemployment, incubation of new businesses and direct support of the development of our youth. It needs to be financially viable to achieve these outcomes. Following confirmation the proposed pathway is suitable, we will then: undertake an initial reserve assessment on the specific areas proposed for development or activity appoint independent consultants to conduct an independent project feasibility study, analogous to the study commissioned by Kentish Council on the proposed Mountain Bike Park in the Badger Ranges. Doing so will largely conclude Stage 1 and move us into Stage 2 of detailed design and statutory approvals. Beyond this, the final stage represents funding and construction. We are looking forward to forecasting a time line to completion of this project following completion of Stage 1. Until that time any estimate is at best a good guess and we don’t like to guess. We’d rather communicate what we know than what we think. Until our next communication, rug up and enjoy the coming snow.

11.01.2022 And now for some unadulterated propaganda on travelling this beautiful State of Tasmania - read our local Visitor's Gazette on the following link https://drive.google.com//0B59Qs0kCj3JKOEpBaTJNQXB4anc/view

11.01.2022 Well folks, it's finally happening. Your new local Bendigo Community Bank will open next Wednesday. A big round of applause to everyone the community that has supported this project, it's been a tremendous team effort. Now it's time to celebrate and you can do that by joining the festivities this coming Wednesday.

10.01.2022 It seems we overlooked posting this communication back in August so our apologies for getting this to followers slower than print media, it certainly wasn’t our intention. A further update will be made in the next couple of weeks now the initial terrain survey has been completed. August 2015...Continue reading

09.01.2022 UPDATE The results are in. Whilst the Cableway can be built as originally visualised, as a single span system, this solution proves to be prohibitively expensive and would need much larger infrastructure than anticipated. In simple terms, we would need close to a million passengers each year to make it worthwhile.... Engineers have provided a smaller scale solution which reduces the size (and cost) of the project substantially. This means: It will be financially viable on existing visitor numbers smaller cable cars offering a smaller visual profile There will be a much smaller complex at the top of the mountain It will need multiple towers (no longer a single span) There are a number of options we are working through now to narrow the final design. The new car capacity will be closer to 16 persons per car and take approximately 6-7 minutes to ascend the mountain. Additional features such as equipment racks for carrying sporting equipment are also being investigated. We had genuinely hoped to ascend the mountain in a single span. Whilst there are other sites on the Mountain where this might be achieved, those sites fall short of community expectations to keep visual amenity low. Progressing this project further with a smaller footprint will more equally match existing visitor numbers, be easier, faster and cheaper to build and more accessibly priced for all users. Reducing the size of the project also greatly improves the prospects of it proceeding and being highly successful. We are very excited at the benefits this will have for all aspects of community life in the region.

02.01.2022 It's been a long time since we last posted. Sorry about that. Early this year we engaged advisory and project management firm, Root Partnerships (https://rootpartnerships.com.au/), to assist in development of documentation in support of the project with a focus on the next steps associated with the Project progressing through design, procurement and to completion. Root Partnerships were selected for their strong track record of delivering complex large scale projects similar ...to this proposal. Root Partnerships’ recently delivered the Arthur’s Seat Eagle project, a successful cableway/gondola developed in collaboration with Parks Victoria in the Arthurs Seat State Park on the Mornington Peninsula, similar in kind and scale to this proposal. We currently await landowner consent in order to progress the project to the final stages of design and planning consent. We hope the attached flyer will help readers appreciate the vision we have for this region, bringing a long talked about Adventure Precinct to life. #mtroland #sheffieldtasmania #discovertasmania #tasmanianadventures #silverridgeretreat #tasmazia

02.01.2022 WOW a spectacular Lady Aurora over Mt Roland thanks to Steven Ooi who says: Originally named Rollands Repulse after Captain John Rolland who used the pass bet...ween it and near by Mt Vandyke to access the high country.
