21.01.2022 Some of our latest pieces! Beautiful vases created by the wonderfully talented Carol Stapleton. We've been showcasing Carol's stunning ceramic works for years and are loving these new two-tone vases. The bright centerpiece featuring a painted red poppy fortuitously arrived just in time for Anzac Day. Despite the suspension of many Anzac Day services, we hope you all found a small moment during the weekend to commemorate the Anzacs in your own way. Wishing everyone a safe an...d happy week ahead! #bookshop #artgallery #ceramics #carolstapleton #poppy #anzacday #anzacweekend #reading #readlocal #art #artwork

18.01.2022 The perils of a large book order vs. a tiny shop. At under the greenwood tree we’ve taken the concept of the ‘home office’ to a whole new level. Sitting in the garden, unboxing books under the watchful gaze of our many four legged companions and with a cup of tea in hand- not the worst way to start a Sunday...

15.01.2022 Yesterday Monte Lupo artists, Kim and Brett, delivered the work for the second Monte Lupo exhibition this year. While we normally hold one solo themed exhibition by Monte Lupo each year, we thought that this already unusual year deserved an out-of-the-ordinary second exhibition with a focus on the ‘functional’ and the addition of some textile exhibits to their ceramics. It looks great and is now on show from today until October 18th. ( No exhibition opening - but cat...alogue available on request) Also make sure you drop in to the Swell Sculpture by the Sea to view their amazing entry . A big shout out to Brett who has been an artist at Monte Lupo for 20 years. Thank you for your ongoing support, interest and enjoyment of all that is contained in ‘The Tardis’ that is ‘Under The Greenwood Tree’

12.01.2022 *WEEKLY BOOK RECOMMENDATION* From now on, we will be uploading a weekly reading recommendation to all of our facebook and instagram followers. These will vary new and old books, fiction and non-fiction, for all genres and all ages. Hopefully we will give you all some inspiration for what to add to your "to-read" list! I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith... I Capture The Castle is a coming-of-age novel that follows 17-year-old Cassandra through the ups and downs of living with her eccentric, charming, yet penniless family that reside in a run-down medieval castle in the English countryside. Set in the 1930s and written in a diary format, readers delight in Cassandra’s charisma and her amusing yet poignant observations about her family & friends. Naive in some ways, precocious in others, Cassandra finds herself, as do many on the cusp of adulthood, entangled in both hilariously awkward as well as profoundly revelatory situations. Full of vibrant & quirky characters, I Capture the Castle is a heart-warming and spellbinding book about growing up & finding your voice; about family, sisters, and those tentative, exciting first steps into finding romance. Recommended for: Anyone aged between 15-115 Those who love novels set in the English countryside Those who love a confessional style of writing. Those who loved Jane Austen, but prefer a slightly more modern setting/ sensibility. Would be great for those who loved: Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons The Pursuit of Love & Love in a Cold Climate by Nancy Mitford A Room with A View by EM Forster High Rising by Angela Thirkell A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith Mariana by Monica Dickens The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Anne Shaffer Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
