25.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE FOR LITTLE ATHLETICS CENTRES The Queensland Government’s Roadmap to easing Queensland’s restrictions was announced on Friday last week. In l...ine with this, Little Athletics Queensland (LAQ) has been working with the Queensland Government’s Department of Sport and Recreation, Qsport and Little Athletics Australia to create an appropriate pathway forward to resume Little Athletics in Queensland. It was announced that as of this Saturday 16th May, under Stage 1 of the easing of restrictions, groups of 10 can gather and non-contact activities can take place. It is important to note that Stage 1 is considered for non-structured activities. Unfortunately, community sport does not fall into this Stage and is not set to begin until Stage 2. The LAQ Board will be meeting soon to discuss further developments, Stage restrictions and what it all means for our Association and Centres. While we all want to get back on the track and field arena as soon as possible, there are still many details that need to be confirmed and finalised before our Winter Centres can commence their seasons. For now, LAQ recommends that Centres hold off on organising any formal, organised activities, competitions or training sessions under Stage 1 and wait for further direction under Stage 2. We understand that many athletes, families and Centres are excited to commence their season and training, but we need to ensure that we follow all appropriate rules, advice, guidelines and directives of not only LAQ, but also the Queensland Government. LAQ will be in a position to provide further information in the coming weeks prior to the easing date for Stage 2. 25.01.2022 Day 1 of Regional Carnival done.. tomorrow is another day... Congratulations to all the wonderful athletes that competed today. I look forward to see you all tomorrow.

18.01.2022 Good morning everyone, I hope everyone is keeping safe during this time. We have the trophies and certificates ready to be handed out. Verna and I will do a live stream video of the trophy and certificate presentation.... The presentation will take place at the grounds on Sunday 3 May starting at 10am. I will then email a list of athletes receiving trophies and certificates. You are then able to collect them from the grounds from 10:30 to 12 or by contacting me and organising a different time and date for pick up. I would like to send an email to all families with more details and also about an AGM for election of the new committee for the 2020/21 season. Can all families please please send me their email addresses so this can be done. Many thanks Rebecca Perkins Centre Manager

18.01.2022 Good evening Parents, Guardians and Athletes, We have been asked if we would like to train with other clubs for the remainder of our season. The 2 clubs that have offered this are Upper Lockyer and Laidley. Upper Lockyer train on Wednesday afternoons from 4:15pm and Laidley train on Friday afternoons starting at 4:45pm. Both clubs are wanting to help us out this season and give all the athletes some training and maybe some competition for their age groups. We will still c...ompete at competitions under Mt Tarampa but we are just training with another club for the season. All our times and distances will still be recorded. Laidley also offer extra training on Sunday afternoons from 4:30pm which we have been invited to attend if we would like. Please let me know what you all decide as you can all start this training with the clubs starting tomorrow. I will be taking my boys to Laidley for the rest of the season. Many thanks Rebecca Perkins Centre Manager Mt Tarampa Little Athletics Club

16.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE - 2020 WINTER CARNIVAL Unfortunately due to current COVID 19 restrictions, the 2020 Winter Carnival has been cancelled. LAQ had every ...intention of conducting the event, however, based on the current guidelines from the Queensland Government and with deadlines approaching for call of nominations, the hire of the venue and accommodation bookings, a decision had to made. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but our priority is the health and safety of our officials, volunteers, staff, families and most importantly, our athletes. The LAQ Board will continue to meet every month and is in constant communication regarding the conduct of future events on the competition calendar. We will be using every effort to ensure we give sufficient notice to the membership on the cancellation of any upcoming events to minimise the impacts as best as possible.

15.01.2022 Merry Christmas to you all. Have a safe and wonderful Christmas and New Years. We will see you all back on the 15 January 2021.

06.01.2022 Coles Little Athletics Australia has developed the following framework to support state and territory Member Associations for the reopening of local centre/club... facilities for training and competition. It provides a guide for how athletics activity should resume in a cautious and considered way because our priority is maintaining public health and minimising the risk of community transmission. 01.01.2022 Happy Tuesday everyone! Episode 8 of LAQ’s Backyard Series is now available. This week, we are extending on what we learnt in Episode 2 and focusing on running,... in particular, our starts. Remember you don't have to have a big backyard to participate, you can use whatever space you have available to improvise. And remember we'd love to see your videos, so tag Little Athletics-Queensland and use #AthsAtHome so we can see what you are up to. Enjoy!
