24.01.2022 Loving the forecast for rain but the wind will make life interesting.

21.01.2022 Total Fire Bans have been declared for Thursday 19 November 2020 in the following Fire Ban Districts: Mid North - Severe Mount Lofty Ranges - Severe Yorke Penin...sula - Severe Murraylands - Severe Upper South East - Severe Lower South East - Severe Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan. FIRE DANGER RATING Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety during a fire. If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option. In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions. Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. 21.01.2022 On this Saturday at the Soldiers Memorial Hall in Mount Torrens. There will be crew members there for you to talk to.

20.01.2022 The Templers fireground has been declared safe, but should serve as a reminder of the very real risk we are facing this summer. The fire moved extremely fast an...d it was only because of the quick response of our volunteers, supported by other agencies and the community, that we were able to get a handle on it as soon as we did. This afternoon's weather has the potential to see more fires like it. If you’re in an area with an Extreme or Severe Fire Danger Rating, please make sure that you have a 5 Minute Bushfire Plan (https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/prepare-f/5-minute-bushfire-plan/) or make your way to you closest or most convenient Bushfire Safer Place (https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/prepare-fo/bushfire-safer-places/). If you’re in an area where there aren’t Total Fire Bans, still ensure you’re still taking care to adapt your activities and behaviours to the conditions you're experiencing. Stay safe and know that our volunteers will be here if you need them.

09.01.2022 Statewide Fire Danger Season commences from midnight tonight. The whole of South Australia will officially be in Fire Danger Season tomorrow, with the final fou...r districts: Adelaide Metropolitan, Kangaroo Island, Lower South East, and Mount Lofty Ranges, commencing their season from midnight tonight. Residents in these areas need to ensure that any fuel reduction burns are completely extinguished and find alternate options for clearing away excess vegetation, such as council green waste disposal. Please make sure your Bushfire Survival Plan is up-to-date and that you are familiar with your Fire Ban district, and what you can and can't do during Fire Danger Season and on days of Total Fire Ban. 09.01.2022 Speed of Yumali fire a prime example of the dangers faced this Bushfire Season Late winter rains have resulted in large volumes of grass and crop growth across ...the state. Country Fire Service State Duty Commander Yvette Dowling said, the extra growth in areas that are yet to be harvested increase the risk of fast-moving fires. When fire enters crops or heavily grassed areas, we see very fast-moving fire, Ms Dowling said. The Yumali fire consumed almost 5,000 hectares in four hours. The fire travelled with such speed that it was not safe for us to put our trucks in front of it in an attempt to extinguish, Ms Dowling said. The fire burned with such ferocity that at times it was difficult for our firebombers to attack the flames. Fire investigators from SA Police, SA Metropolitan Fire Service and SA Country Fire Service are attending this morning to determine the cause of the fire. Unfortunately, one house and one shed has been destroyed in the fire. The CFS airfleet completed 48 drops of firefighting products onto the fire, totalling more than 110,000 litres of product dropped from above. Two people were injured during the fire. A CFS four-wheel drive was involved in a head-on collision with a private vehicle on the fireground, with all occupants cleared of major injuries. This fire has given us an early reminder that, even though we have had recent rainfall and cooler conditions, there is still a great potential for large scale fires. You need to ensure your property is cleaned up now, and you have a Bushfire Survival Plan. Under COVID-19 lockdown conditions, residents are allowed to leave their properties in cases of emergency. More details on how to create a Bushfire Survival Plan can be found at cfs.sa.gov.au See more

08.01.2022 What an amazing weekend in Mount Torrens! Such great community spirit. Friday night we kicked off the celebrations with our now famous Santa run. Saturday was made, we ran the first Bunnings BBQ at Mount Barker since they shut down during COVID19. At the same time we had crew at the Mount Torrens Hotel - and a massive thank you to our friends from Birdwood Country Fire Service for helping out on Saturday for the lunch shift. Sunday saw us back at the pub cooking lunch and ...dinner. In addition to the festivities, Kelly McMiles https://www.facebook.com/kelly.mcmiles and Michael Coulson, the Community Engagement Officers for the Region 2 and 1 respectively, were on hand to talk about Bushfire Survival Plans, information sessions they are running. And lastly, but most definitely not least, a HUGE shout out to Angie, Danny and family for putting on such an amazing event. You created the perfect atmosphere and how great does the new outdoor area look!

05.01.2022 Key messaging for bushfire safety in SA given COVID restrictions From midnight tonight, a six-day initial stage of ‘circuit breaker’ restrictions will be implem...ented to protect the South Australian community from the spread of COVID-19. These restrictions may affect how you follow CFS bushfire safety advice. Review your Bushfire Survival Plan using the up-to-date advice on the SA Health website www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVID-19 UNDER LOCKDOWN During this initial restriction period, you can only leave your home for limited reasons. This includes during a bushfire emergency or if your home is unsafe. Some relocation destinations in Bushfire Safer Places will not be available due to these COVID-19 restrictions. - Cinemas and other public venues will be closed. - Visits to shopping centres are for essential food shopping only If you plan to stay with relatives or friends when you relocate to a Bushfire Safer Place, consider alternative arrangements if your plan is to stay with elderly relatives or immuno-compromised relatives or friends. This will reduce the risk of exposing vulnerable people to COVID-19. If you are in self-quarantine or self-isolation due to COVID-19, you can leave your home if you are in an emergency or your home is unsafe but try to get back into self-isolation as soon as you safely can. During an emergency, if you need to attend an emergency relief centre or a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge, you need to stay outside, alert emergency services (e.g. SAPOL, relief authorities at the location etc) and follow instructions. You must ensure you advise emergency services that you have been forced to leave self-quarantine or self-isolation due to the emergency and that: - you are a close contact of a known COVID-19 case - you have recently tested positive to COVID-19 or if - you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or - you are in self-quarantine because you have recently returned from interstate. UNDER RESTRICTIONS State government restrictions are in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This may affect how you follow CFS bushfire safety advice. Leaving early during COVID-19 will be a little different this summer. While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, you can leave your home during an emergency or if your home is unsafe. Consider the following in your leave early plan to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19: During COVID-19 restrictions you may travel if you are doing so as part of your bushfire plan. If you are unwell or have symptoms, isolate yourself from others and ensure you always wear a face covering and get tested as soon as possible. Add to your 'Emergency Kit' - Additional face masks - Hand sanitiser - more than 60% alcohol - Antibacterial wipes Follow SA Health COVID-19 advice - Wear a face mask - Practise good hygiene. Wash or sanitise your hands when you enter someone else’s home, if possible - Do not shake hands, hug or kiss as a greeting - Maintain physical distancing, keep at least 1.5 metres away from others

05.01.2022 And a reminder that the oval is a Bushfire place of last resort, not a safe place. It's where you go when your plan has failed and shit has hit the fan.
