08.01.2022 Waverley Tennis Spring Season 2020 of Night Tennis Waverley Tennis is still proceeding with the grading of teams as per normal, but clearly the Season shall not... be able to commence for a minimum of 2 weeks once restrictions are lifted as well, similar to our guidelines for day tennis. 05.01.2022 COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT Glen Waverley home to a new $21 million tennis centre! Glen Waverley will be the home of Victoria’s newest tennis precinct in a major c...oup for the local area thanks to a $21 million investment by the Andrews Labor Government. I join Transport Infrastructure Minister Jacinta Allan in announcing a new tennis centre with up to 18 courts - featuring lights on each court, a new multi-sport pavilion and practice facilities. As part of the Labor Government’s massive North East Link Project, $21 million will be invested to help Monash City Council build the centre. The new tennis centre is expected to open in mid-2023 and will be a new home for tournament tennis with thousands of players expected to use the centre. The location provides the opportunity to include other activities including a community plaza, mini-golf course and new practice facilities. Monash City Council will soon start on plans for an initial design. The new tennis centre will replace the existing centre in Boroondara, which is located on land needed for a crucial interchange to connect the North East Link to the Eastern Freeway. North East Link Project worked closely with Tennis Australia, Tennis Victoria, Sport and Recreation Victoria and local councils to select the new site. Once complete, North East Link will slash up to 11 minutes off a trip along the Eastern Freeway and will better connect residents and businesses in the Eastern suburbs to the north and the airport. This is a big win for locals - to have a state-of-the-art tennis centre built in the Mount Waverley District. The new Monash Tennis Centre will not only cater for growth in the area but will also see our next generation of tennis stars kick start their careers.
