20.01.2022 Today at playgroup we participated in a Waste Wise Workshop. We were able to transfer the knowledge we already had to the sorting activity and we learned about other items we can recycle, as well as look at items we can use over & over!

09.01.2022 Rainy days mean the climbing frame and the tunnels come inside. We put our gum boots and had a quick run outdoors during the break in the rain

09.01.2022 Sustainability, maths, science & hygiene in the kitchen. We had some apples and plums that needed to be eaten or used, so a crumble it was! After cutting them up, we stewed them and then measured the ingredients for the topping. Then came the fun part of getting our hands dirty rubbing the butter through. Once it was ready we put it on top (working out how to cover the entire dish) and popped it in the oven- a perfect dish for a rainy day!

07.01.2022 Changes don’t have to be big: this morning we created a small home corner area as children have been loving this area at playgroup. Literacy is incorporated with food books & magazines and we have wood, bamboo, metal and plastic- both pretend items and real world items

04.01.2022 We noticed that the lemons on the tree have started to change colour, They’re ready to pick! We looked closer and talked about how the lemons need to be yellow all over to pick them, we decided that since these weren’t yellow all over they weren’t yet ready. Instead we used them to incorporate maths by counting how many lemons were on the tree- twenty one. Twenty one lemons to use! What can we do with them? After talking about different ways to use lemons it was decided making lemonade sounded the best.
