15.01.2022 Mudgee and District Campdraft Training Day!!! 28th November 2020. Mudgee and District Campdraft Club held their first day for 2020, a Training Day held at Gulgong Showground on Saturday the 28th of November. It’s been a tough year for the new committee to get any activities up and running with COVID-19 restrictions ruling out most sport for the majority of the year. After a rain delay and finally confirming a date, we’ve land our first Training Day of the year, just before t...he Christmas decoration go up, and the summer heat sets in! Club Secretary/ Treasurer Kylie McDonnell did a stirling job in getting the administration underway to ensure we were COVID Safe, Affiliated with the ABCRA and individually covered for any eventuality. Kylie then deftly turned her hand to arena preparation, with Danny Moerkerk’s kindly loaned tractor and offset discs to work the arena to get the ground just right, for some serious campdrafting and horse training. For a training day there was some excellent campdrafting on show, that wouldn’t have been out of place at any of the big name events. The Club would like to shout out a special thank you to Murray Dale who donated Cattle and Transport to make the day possible and Dan Walker for organising the cattle (for several weekends as it turned out, after the rained-out date was bypassed). This kind donation of cattle and services has given the club a really affordable day out and training opportunity. The cattle where excellent for the day and just the right mix for the abilities of the horses and riders. You could travel many more miles and pay much more for half the experience. Another thank-you to the Committee Members who helped on the day to make it happen, also sharing their experience and knowledge with the rest of us to help further develop our Campdrafting and Horse Training Skills. Megan Rogan and Emma Clarke where both very generous and forthcoming with tips, tricks and insights to help progress the day along as well coaching riders around the course and in the campyard, Thank You ladies, we look forward to your input at the next one. Mudgee and District Campdraft Club will be holding the next event in March or April (2021) next year.
