22.01.2022 Thanks to Coach Ed from the U13s for sending this thru The Under 13s were in Mudgee yesterday for their first games of the season. We came up against a very well drilled Bathurst side in the first game, and despite more than holding our own for long periods of the match, their greater match practice showed and we went down 5-0, although the score did not truely reflect the story of the game. The boys pulled themselves together for the second game against Orange Tigers, ...and more communication and desire in the 50-50 balls saw them get on top of Orange and they came away with a fully deserved 2-0 win. The spirit in the squad is great and they are a great bunch to coach and their 100% commitment always makes me proud. Thank you to the refs and to the club, the facilities looked great. See you all in Orange next weekend (pack your winter woolies as it is going to be cold).

20.01.2022 U12 WYL Wrap Up Mudgee 1 vs Orange Lions 3 Mudgee 1 vs Lachlan United 3... Mudgee u12s had their last round of the season in tricky conditions in Orange. A strong gusty wind and a hard pitch combined to give the ball a life of its own at times. The game against the Orange Lions was a pretty even affair, with the final score not quite reflecting the effort put in by the team. A beautiful slide tackle just outside the box was judged to have been inside the box and worthy of a penalty kick from the spot, not much the goalie could do against that. But the team rallied and after a few exciting opportunities, Luka Garland sent a shot from the broken play near the 18 yard line into the top corner of the net for a well deserved goal. The team finished the game happy knowing that they had done well and came close against a physical team that seemed to have an extra 10kg and 10cm on every player around the field. The afternoon game against Lachlan started off looking like a carbon copy of the first game. The wind was our constant companion and foe, making some clearances soar like an eagle well down field, while the next would waddle like a duck and skid out of bounds. Lachlan too was, physically a much larger team, with Zach Nipperess our only player able to report what the top of a Lachlan players head looked like. Zach did several fantastic saves, including a magical 4 save scrambling combination from shots just outside the 6 yard box before managing to dive on the ball. We had several probing runs that came close, with a memorable run and shot by Rusty Mussared being denied by the woodwork. Beau Croft took over keeper duties for the second half to pull off some remarkable saves to the excitement of the Mudgee spectators on the sidelines. One of Beaus leaping saves meaning he left the game an inch taller than he started it. Mudgees goal was scored by a clinical Luka Garland shot, again with the final score not quite showing the effort and opportunity of the game. Overall it was a good way to finish off a tough season in the year that never was. For a team playing their first season moving up to the full size field, against teams that seemed to be populated with giants and without any Saturday season to give them much needed match play, they handled their games well, keeping their heads up and attitudes positive, they should be proud of the commitment and team spirit they showed through the year.

19.01.2022 WYL U11 WRAP UP Sunday 30 August (Lithgow) Game 1: Mudgee 0 Orange Tigers 1 Game 2: Mudgee 18 Lithgow 0... The U11 team travelled to Lithgow on Sunday and were greeted by blue skies and sunny weather, a stark contrast to what they wouldve played in the weekend before! The first game against Orange Tigers was as good a game of soccer as you would want to see. Mudgee held dominance for most of the match but failed to capitalise on a few scoring opportunities before Orange scored a goal against the run of play. It was a great game played by 2 very willing and skilful teams. Tommy Ryan was the pick of the Mudgee side, with some brilliant displays of skill in attack and defence and a never give up attitude. The Mudgee boys should be proud of their performance, with the referee commenting at full time on the willing but sportsman-like spirit the game was played in. The boys wrapped up the season in style with an easy win of an under strength Lithgow side. The Lithgow side never gave up but playing with no reserves and with a few younger players in the team, Lithgow just never got into the game. The Mudgee boys did well to stick to their structures and showed off some very sharp shooting to win the game 18 zip. A huge thanks to the players parents for ferrying them around to training and games this year and an even bigger thanks to the players for their commitment and attitude in what was a challenging year. The development across the squad has been phenomenal and the teamwork that was developed across the season was a pleasure to witness. The players are all fine young representatives of our great town! Coach Adam

16.01.2022 UPDATE - 2020 SEASON. It is with a heavy heart that we have determined at our committee meeting tonight to abandon our 2020 soccer season for our Junior teams. The impact of COVID 19, and the resultant restrictions and guidelines imposed by NSW Health and Football NSW, together with the delayed season and many many other factors, have lead to this unfortunate decision. Further details regarding refunds etc will be posted and emailed in the coming days. Please bear with us as... we work through the details this decision will bring. Looking forward to a bigger and better season in 2021. Regards The Committee Mudgee Gulgong Wolves FC

12.01.2022 Under 10 WesternYouth League Round 2 Game 1 Dubbo vs Lachlan United Maroon ... The boys from Dubbo went into the game hoping to notch up another win after their successful trip to Forbes the previous weekend. The first half was not to be, with both sides failing to net any goals (Not for lack of trying) & half time left both sides at 0 0. The 2nd half saw a very persistent Dubbo side moving the ball around proficiently around the entire pitch keeping possession & building up their attack. The hard work & hunger was rewarded by 4 Goals being scored by Dubbo by Full time & a clean sheet for Dubbos Goalie Lincoln Clark who had a brilliant game in goal pulling off some amazing saves & with the backs being rock solid in defence. Goal scorers Hugo Dunlop, Chayse Sasse, Jacoby Fitzgerald, Theo Calocouras. Game 2 Dubbo vs Mudgee Black Dubbo went into the second game confident & aiming for another win. But Mudgee showed they were there to do the same. The match was very reminiscent of the last game played against a Mudgee side (Mudgee Gold in the previous weekend), & both sides peppering the goals at both ends with only Dubbo managing to score in the first half, & at the break Dubbo were up 1-0. The 2nd half showed that both sides were hungry for more goals & just like the first half, both goals were under constant attack. Some brilliant saves from Dubbos keeper Nate Fuller kept Dubbo in the game, with a second goal coming for Dubbo about 10 minutes into the half. Mudgee struck back soon after with an unsavable shot from a runaway striker on a counterattack. With the score still in Dubbos favour, both sides continued to test each other to the end with multiple attacks & shots on goal. But the defenders & goalies at both ends were having none of it & were placing enough pressure on their attackers that the score line remained unchanged at Full time. Goal scorers Chayse Sasse, Mitchell Barton. The boys were outstanding in their teamwork & all played important roles in todays wins. Jason Calocouras.

09.01.2022 COMMUNITY SPORT COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN UPDATES As a result of rising COVID-19 case numbers in NSW, NSW Health has revised the COVID-19 Safety Plan template for co...mmunity sporting competitions and full training activities. We are asking that all community sport organisations across NSW put plans in place to minimise community sport spectators where practical, to parents and carers only. Unfortunately this means wed prefer no aunties and uncles, grandparents or siblings crowding the sidelines if they dont need to be there. We are also asking these organisations to ensure processes are in place to exclude participants and spectators if they have visited Victoria in the past 14 days or any of the reported case locations on the NSW Health website. 06.01.2022 U15s WYL Wrap Up 2020 Mudgee are the Western Youth Champions U/15s with 3 wins and one draw. Mudgee 3-0 over Lithgow... Mudgee 2-2 draw with Orange A great effort by everyone in the team on two very windy weekends of play. The Team kept their heads up even when at times we seemed to collapse in defence, regrouping, refocusing and getting the job done. Plenty of shots on goal were heavily effected by the wind in the first game against Lithgow, but in the end a 3-0 scoreline was the teams result. Walking into the second game against Orange, we knew we had a challenge ahead. With out first goal coming from a through ball from Zane Bowmaker to Jordy Richards fending off two defenders and a goalie before giving it a hit on the sweet spot into the net. Following after was a lapse where Orange took advantage and levelled the scoreline, Harrison Cole put a valiant effort in with some courageous decision making to keep the ball out of the net during this time. The next goal even a freight train could not stop came from Dom Sebelic, precision and speed left the opposition dumb founded (big power from these little legs). Unfortunately we went to sleep before half time which Orange again punished us for, leaving the half time result at 2-2. With some tactical talk over the break the team was focused and held strong until the final whistle. A big Thank-you to Sherry for training the team while I was working. Thank you to the parents for the side-line motivation and support to get your teenagers to training and the games. Chad Bowmaker Coach of the U/15 Western Youth League Champions 2020

03.01.2022 Dubbo. Under 10 western youth league Game 1 (Dubbo vs Orange Lions) The boys played their first ever game together against a very physical & structured Orange L...ions team. Dubbo opened the scoring after about 5 mins to take an early lead 1-0. Orange Lions hit back with a quick couple of goals to go into half time 2-1 up. Early in the 2nd half saw Orange take a 3-1 lead. Dubbo kept persevering & managed another goal clawing back to make it 3-2, & despite them starting to "click" as a team, they had a few more attempts at goal but couldnt find the back of the net. Dubbo eventually going down 3-2. Game 2 (Dubbo vs Mudgee Gold) Dubbo, now having a game together under their belt was ready for their next opponent. Again, Dubbo scored first, this time after about 10 mins into the first half. A very skilled & fast Mudgee side managed to equalise before half time sending both teams into the break 1-1. 2nd half saw both sides showing that neither of them were wanting to finish the game a draw, with Mudgee hitting the crossbar with a cracking shot & Dubbos keeper securing the ball before a penalty box full of Mudgee players could swoop on the loose ball for a cheeky goal. Dubbo kept battling with the match winner eventually coming for the boys towards the end of the match. Dubbo win 2-1.
