25.01.2022 Where are they Now? At Mudgee High School we love to follow what our students have been up to post school. Welcome to the spotlight Mrs Sharyn Carr (Nee Westwood) Support Unit Teacher Mudgee High School. I attended Mudgee High School from 1982-1985 (years 9-12). I enjoyed running and was the Girls Cross Country champion for a couple of years. My favourite subject was art. When I left school, I did a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Newcastle University. I settled in Charlestown, ...where I married and raised a family. I worked as a personal care assistant in aged care, then I became a Visual Arts and a Special Education teacher. I worked at Lakeside SSP until I transferred to Mudgee High School, starting in 2017. I work in the Support Unit and am also the Year 9 Adviser. I love living in Mudgee and its nice being a lot closer to my mum and dad, and my siblings. I also love to sing and play my ukulele! Welcome back Mrs Carr! See more

20.01.2022 Sick - the new rules From Monday 17 August, additional measures were put in place by the New South Wales Government to combat the potential for COVID-19 to spread in the community and specifically in schools. If your child is sick with a cold or flu-like symptoms:... Keep that child at home. Have your child tested for COVID-19. Do not send that child to school until the test results are known and "negative." Do not send that child to school until the school has sighted the negative result. The last dot point is the important change. If you need to have your child tested, call the Mudgee Respiratory Clinic on 0417 072 652. Be aware that the good people at the clinic are under the pump at present and you may not get in on the day you call. If the Respiratory Clinics message bank is full, contact South Mudgee Surgery on 6372 4355 to secure a booking. The good people at the South Mudgee Surgery advise that test results can be sent as an SMS or printed. If your child returns a negative test, and is well enough to attend school, you need only show that SMS or present that printed confirmation at the front office to allow that child to return. A reminder that we really are all in this together, please: keep washing your hands keep using hand sanitiser and keep your social distance.

20.01.2022 Semester 1 elective fees: As a result of the partial shutdown from 24 March to 22 May, some students were only able to attend a few practical classes where materials such as ingredients for cooking and materials for Industrial Arts were used. As a consequence, Mudgee High will be waiving these subject fees. For those who have already paid these fees, your childs account will be credited the amount paid. Please disregard any outstanding amounts due, if not already paid. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any queries regarding this matter.

20.01.2022 Where are they Now? At Mudgee High School we pride ourselves on developing strong professional relationships with our students and families and take great pride in checking in from time to time to see what they have been up to post school. We welcome to the spotlight Felicity Smith. "I started at Mudgee High School in 2013 and Graduated Year 12 in 2018. It feels like only yesterday I was wandering the halls desperately trying to figure out what I wanted to do after I graduate...d. For me, I was set on university. After successfully completing my HSC and obtaining all the marks I needed, it was with no hesitation I sent off my enrolment and kick-started university via Distance Education. The last year of high school is such a frantic time, I never let myself think about what I really wanted. Not long after commencing university, I decided it wasnt what I wanted and set out on my newfound career in real estate. I commenced my real estate journey with First National in 2019 as a Property Manager. Soon after, I commenced my cert IV in Property Services. I have now successfully obtained my Real Estate Licence and am now a licensed real estate agent. I still work in property management and am approaching 1 year with First National! As a Mudgee local by birth, I love that I can now manage properties that I have driven past all my life and see areas I have watched develop. Mudgee has so much to offer! Often young people look past Mudgee and feel they need to move away to further their careers. However, you can achieve great things right here in our thriving little town. The connections that you have in a town like Mudgee are not something you will easily find in larger places. To the students going through and approaching their final year, I encourage you to take a step back and really reflect on where you see yourself. And remember, the first path you choose may be completely wrong for you. But like me, you too will find your way" See more

20.01.2022 Max Potential Presentations Over the last two terms, six of our Year 10 students have participated in the Max Potential Program. Students in the program are matched with community coaches to work on a community service pitch. This work assists students to increase their confidence and challenge themselves to achieve goals and to inspire others. This years program has been faced with exceptional challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Much of the program had to move online.... Friday 31 Julys showcase, usually held at Club Mudgee at the conclusion of the program, was relocated to each students school, ours being held in the school library via Zoom. The presentation was a fabulous celebration of each students community service pitch. Well done to Ethan Blamire, Lucy Campbell, Harrison Christofis, Tara Dwyer, Stella Morgan and Hilary Wright! 15.01.2022 With the COVID-19 spike in Victoria and clusters in NSW, the Department of Education requires all visitors to the school to complete an "External Visitors to School Site form". If an intending visitor presents at the site who is unwell, that visit cannot take place. If an incident were to occur at the school, completion of the site form allows for easier contact tracing. Thanks.

14.01.2022 Mudgee High School is very proud of all of our ex students and love to hear what they have been up to post school. We welcome Lauren Abend to the spotlight as our first in the series of "Where Are They Now" Lauren says I honestly cant believe 2 years have flown by so quickly. It seems almost like yesterday we were all stressed about the HSC and the possibility of never getting accepted into University. I moved to Sydney soon after leaving MHS to study a Bachelors Degree in... Contemporary Music from which I have recently graduated! Over the last 2 years, I have been working on my music and who I am as an artist. I have been focused on releasing my own music and that is my goal this year. Alongside music, I was signed to a modeling agency and have achieved a lot in the last year and a half. I am grateful to have had the experience of working with some incredible companies and brands. One that Im very excited about working with more recently on their newest campaign has been Harpers Bazaar. During these crazy times in which we currently find ourselves, I have been taking it day by day, filling each day with a new activity to keep myself busy. That is my life update thus far! You are a star in our eyes and we wish you all the best in chasing your dreams! Check out Laurens rendition of the Harry Styles classic "Falling"

13.01.2022 Open Girl's Touch On Monday 26th April, the Open Girls touch team travelled to Bathurst, along with the Open Boys team, for the Western Area carnival. It was a long day and an early start for the students (6:30AM-6:30PM). With only ten players and a very young team (only two year 12s and no year 11s) the first game against Parkes was the toughest pool game. After a slow start, the girls found themselves down 2-1 halfway through the game. Once the team settled in, they started... to look dangerous and when the siren rang they had come up trumps 4-2. The team’s next two matches were comfortable wins against Condobolin HS (8-0) and Wellington HS (9-1) where Andy Dowdy managed to cross for four tries! This meant Mudgee High’s team topped their pool and qualified for the semis where they came up against Dubbo HS. Again the team found itself down early in the match despite looking the better side, but once again came home strong, winning 3-2. The team’s youngest player, Rachel Shannon (year 7), scored a double. In the final, the team came up against a very talented Orange HS and was beaten convincingly. Despite this, as runners up of the whole western area, the team qualified for the State touch carnival next term. Additionally, Isabelle Hauville, Ella Callaghan and Maddy Rawlinson were chosen in the Open’s Western team. Rachel Marshall and Shauna Rawlinson were also chosen as shadows for this team, capping off a very successful day. A big thank you to Blake Coulthart for refereeing on the day. See more

13.01.2022 Where Are They Now Mudgee High School is proud of all of our students achievements while at school and post school. We delight in catching up with past students to seen what they have been up to post school. We welcome to the spotlight Lochlan Mortensen. "Commencing year 7 in 2011, I finished up my High School journey at the end of year 10 in 2014. I always wanted to be an electrician but found that school just wasnt for me. So when the opportunity came, I was lucky enough t...o grab it and become an apprenticeship electrician at 16. After working hard and saving the majority of what I earned, I purchased my own home in 2018 at 19 years of age and have completely renovated it. I successfully completed my apprenticeship at the end of 2018, becoming a licensed electrician. At the end of 2019 I took a bold move to start my own electrical business. Thus, Mortos Electrical was born. My business took off and I have been working non-stop ever since. I now have my own apprentice and another tradesman working under me. I love that being an electrician in Mudgee allows me to make so many connections and meet lots of different people. Mudgee has such a strong field of tradespeople which is something great to be a part of!" See more

09.01.2022 Where Are They Now At Mudgee High School we have loved catching up with our students post school to see what they have been up to. We were delighted to hear from Jenny and to hear her story below. "Barry Cavalier and I met at Mudgee High School. My name then was Jenny Austin. At school, we became friends and graduated Year 12 together in 1991. A few years after school we dated for a few months, but went our separate ways when Barry moved to Adelaide. I went on to marry, have ...two sons and move to Canberra. Barry stayed in Adelaide for many years before moving to Singleton. In 2012 and now divorced, I volunteered to help out with our Mudgee High School Class of 91 21st School Reunion by putting together a bit of a where are they now, which put me back in contact with Barry. Even though Barry didnt make it to the actual reunion, we stayed in contact and over a period of time we become a couple again and Barry moved to Canberra. In 2016, we married. We are both public servants, working for the Secondary School - ACT Education Directorate. We have a wonderful life and for that we can be thankful that Mudgee High School brought us together and gave us wonderful memories and friends. The photos that accompany this post are of Jenny and Barry when they were Year 12 and now. Jenny Cavalier" Thank you to Jenny for making contact. We are happy to be part of your story. See more
