25.01.2022 QKLG - ENROL TODAY FOR THE QUEENSLAND KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM IN 2021 How lucky we are to be situated so close to nature and the beautiful park outside our fence. It often provides rich and meaningful learning experiences that are totally spontaneous yet so beneficial. It also connects us to community with many locals having a chat and bringing their dogs up for a pat. Our learning came in the form of a tiny nest being blown from the trees, it was not occupied so we brought it inside for a closer look. The children decided they wanted to fill it with flowers that have been dropping from the same tree. We will use the internet to see if we can find which bird may have created this natural masterpiece.
23.01.2022 Enrol now for 2021! The yard was set up predominantly using loose parts resources both in the sandpit and on activity tables on the verandah. The children required no inviting other than the provocation themselves. At the table they explored door knobs, locks and keys, power switches and plugs. Dexterity, imagination and communication was involved as they shared their ideas about how to use the parts and what their real life purpose is. Loose parts play is a type of play that supports invention, divergent thinking, problem solving and offers a sense of wonder to children. They are materials that can be moved, carried, combined, redesigned, lined up, and taken apart and put back together in multiple ways. The sandpit was transformed into ramps, tunnels and vehicles with more creativity and team work.
22.01.2022 We made a Hubble bubble witches brew with Lux flakes and water to create a sensory table. The children swirled and stretched the mixture while saying abracadabra. We always enjoy messy play with so many benefits for developing sensory dispositions as well as helping to soothe and calm to relax our bodies and minds.
20.01.2022 In the nursery we have been experimenting with the many different way to use water. The children love having the opportunity to assist in collecting it and using it in their play. First we used it to make the sand firm enough to make sandcastles, where the children worked collaboratively to fill the bucket before turning it over and lifting it up. Also using it for sensory exploration, the children scooped, poured and splashed in the water.
17.01.2022 Experimentation along with cause and effect are just some of the strategies we utilise to extend the children’s interest in creative arts. At the chalk board we mixed things up a little and instead, used paint brushes and water to ‘paint’. The children watched in amazement as the water washed away the chalk and left the marks they made behind. Also in making Goop! We all got nice and messy as we worked together to make it. Everyone had a turn at pouring in the corn flour before adding the water. Using our hands to mix it was the best part! Feeling how cold and slimy it was.
12.01.2022 LOOKING FOR CARE IN 2021 - ENQUIRE TODAY AND BOOK YOUR SPOT. Taking 2021 Enrolments NOW We planned an intentional teaching STEM water activity today using different lengths of pool noodles and funnels. As a group we hypothesised which one would be quickest route for the water before have some bucket filling races. We worked in groups of five teams for our races which required children to fill cups of water before carefully pouring water into the funnels trying not to spill any. The water ran through the noodle into buckets and the first bucket to fill was the winner and therefor the fastest route for the water. The children loved this new learning experience with some extra benefits of getting very wet in the process.
11.01.2022 ENROL TODAY For Kindergarten in 2021! Miss Lisa set up an amazing tightrope and trapeze challenge to encourage some risk taking and further challenge our children in their gross motor skills. As the children are getting older their curiosity for risky play and desire for more complex challenges is growing. Everyday life is full of risks and challenges and children need opportunities to develop the skills associated with managing risk and making informed judgements about risks from a very young age. Risky play helps to develop important life skill learnings such as Building resilience and persistence. This activity also develops gross motor skills and capabilities. We all had so much fun engaging with this new and exciting experience.
08.01.2022 ENROL NOW FOR KINDERGARTEN IN 2021. Our centre loves the Local Community connections we have, as part of this the entire centre created their own interpretation of Poppy flowers after observing one minute silence and listening to the Last Post. Kindergarten drew inspiration from Georgia O’Keefe’s Poppy and listening to a variety of stories. We combined all of the beautiful unique poppies to create a wreath to lay at the Mudgeeraba War Memorial. Lest We Forget.
04.01.2022 Junior kindy invited us to join in their planned water play day. The children always enjoy water day at kindy. Not only is this a wonderful way to cool off in Queensland’s beautiful hot weather, it also affords many learning and health benefits. Children learn about sun and water safety, turn taking and spatial awareness as well as STEM concepts including volume, cause and effect and trial and error. Children fill and empty, pour and transfer water using a variety of purpose built and loose parts resources. And most of all it is lots of FUN!
