19.01.2022 1 June 2021 - Well folks our journey is coming to an end. Got up at day break to try and get a glimpse of the elusive Kangaroo Island Penguin (just across the road from our hotel) - no luck, but got to experience a beautiful sunrise on my last day. Had a couple of hours in Glenelg (lovely weather) before boarding our Qantas flight back into Sydney. What a wonderful trip, with a great group of people!... We travelled from the top end of Australia, to the bottom Viewed a magical sunset at the Mindil Beach Markets Swam in the waterfalls of Litchfield National Park Experienced the majestic natural beauty of Katherine Gorge & Kakadu Got up close with the local wildlife Travelled 2979 km at an average train speed of 85km/hr on the Ghan Had a wonderful outback BBQ dinner (despite the cold) at the Historic Alice Springs Telegraph Station Marvelled at the sheer red cliffs of Simpsons Gap Experienced alien planet landscapes in the underground town of Cober Pedy Walked among the fur seals on Kangaroo Island Saw the artistic side of nature at the remarkable rocks Thank you for allowing me to share this fabulous journey with you. If it sounds kind of familiar, that’s because it is Australia already has one in place with New Zealand, though it only functions one way.... This means New Zealanders can travel into most parts of Australia (bar the ACT and Western Australia) without needing to enter mandatory hotel quarantine but they still have to isolate for two weeks when they head home.
