14.01.2022 Hi all Last Saturday afternoon the bowlers contested an afternoon of Mixed 3 Bowl Pairs. Teams were formed from a Box Draw which resulted in 12 teams participating for a share of the $290.00 prize money over to games. Played under the laws of the game with two added conditions: If the jack was pushed into the ditch within or outside rink boundary, the jack was re-spotted on the T. If a bowl came to rest in the ditch whether a toucher or not, it was taken out of play. ...Played in wonderful Spring weather, a good time was had by all competitors. Results for the afternoon: 1st Margaret King & Les Alcorn, 2 wins plus 26 2nd Dave Menchin & Rhonda Clarke, 2 wins plus 16 3rd Kym Underwood & Brian Stammers, 2 wins plus 13 3 Mystery Prizes: Steve Caldwell & Anne Mead, Anthony Hennessy & Bruce Kurtz, Narelle Pye & Jane Sivyer. It was great to see a number of new bowlers having a go. Congratulations to all participants. YES, we will be doing this again very soon. Details by the end of the week. 09.01.2022 BOWLS IS THE SPORT FOR ALL Why think bowls ? * easy to learn before incorporating tactics and different shots *competitions are for all age groups... *can be played competitively or socially *the fresh air and exercise keeps you physically fit and healthy *the game itself enhances mental wellbeing and improves ones cognitive development *players with disabilities can compete *membership and games are affordable at any level *bowls is a non contact, safe sport to play The age old perception that bowls is for older generation with brown shoes and brown marbles is no more. For one our junior membership has increased noticeably over the past couple of years in WP and across the country. There are younger players joining the sport, new apparel, brightly coloured bowls and new challenging competitions that are attracting a mixture of new members and sponsors. The truth about the game is that it is addictive. For this reason, one has the opportunity to find a competition most days and certainly every weekend if you like. After entering this world of bowls, networking and friendship potential across the province with amazing people can only warm your heart . Lawn bowls is enjoyed by people from all walks of life , age , all kinds of disabilities and any skill level. There is a competition for everyone .Bowls is also the ultimate spectator sport.Club bar prices are enjoyed by many social members while watching a game from the side line.Never a dull moment on our greens .It is truly a spirt that lasts a lifetime.

05.01.2022 18th August 2020 Joint Advice from Womens Bowls NSW and Bowls NSW Regarding Community Sport Guidelines NSW Health together with NSW Office of Sport have released updated guidelines for Community Sport to be put in place from Wednesday 19th August 2020.... NSW Health have recommended to all NSW Sporting Organisations to suspend all activities that bring together participants from different areas and may include Local Government Areas (LGA). As a result of this direction, Womens Bowls NSW and Bowls NSW hereby advise that ALL State Championship events to be held at District/Regional/Zone level MUST be suspended for a period of 6 weeks commencing tomorrow, Wednesday 19th August. This suspension applies to any State Championships currently in progress and any scheduled to be played within the next 6 weeks. All Districts/Regions/Zones are advised to alter their season programs to reschedule any matches to be played after this 6-week period. Any other District/Regional/Zone events scheduled to be played during this 6-week period (e.g. Pennants, inter regional matches, any other event that has participants from different areas participating) should also be suspended for the 6-week period. Clubs are advised that if they have any tournaments scheduled to be played during this period that they should also postpone or ensure entrants and participants are from their local area only. All face to face meetings at District and Zone level like committee meetings and AGMs should also be postponed. Video meetings through programs such as Zoom are recommended to be utilised. Coaching and Umpire Courses will be limited to participants from host venue local area and some participants may be contacted to arrange alternative arrangements, if necessary. Clubs are encouraged to continue with any of their championships during this period (Singles, Pairs, Triples, Fours and Mixed events etc.). Clubs MUST have a COVID safe plan in place and it is noted that part of the requirements are to encourage that there are no spectators at any events or limit to one parent/carer per junior participant. Both Associations will release separate information regarding their events planning ASAP.
