03.01.2022 HAVE YOUR SAY - SCRC. Sunshine Coast council's future waste survey is now available for you to complete online. Please have your say before consultation closes on Tuesday 2 March 2021. Around half of the material in Sunshine Coast household general waste bins could be diverted from landfill and recycled.... By recycling our organic waste, it becomes a resource, reduces our region’s carbon emissions and helps to look after our environment for our future generations. It also helps council achieve our waste strategy target to divert 55 per cent of household waste from landfill by 2025 at the moment we sit at 34 per cent. To achieve this, Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to introduce an opt-out third bin for garden waste which could transition to a food organics and garden organics bin service, also known as a FOGO bin. Your input will inform council on how waste is managed across the region into the future. We want to know what changes you’d be willing to make for a sustainable future. Please share this opportunity to have a say on the future of waste in our region with your family and friends. Sunshine Coast Council
