25.01.2022 HOW GERMS SPREAD// This week in the Yellow room we have been exploring how germs spread and what we can do to stop them. In this experiment we sprayed a mixture of oil and water on our hands, then we added glitter - different colours for different children, next we had a great time giving each other high fives and shaking hands. Once we were finished we all looked at our hands and realised that the different coloured glitter germs had spread across everyone's hands. Then we all took turns to wash our hands thoroughly. We also learned that germs are not always easy to get off.

24.01.2022 WE CAN'T SEE GERMS// In the green room we have been talking about how even though we can't see the germs they are still there. Miss Steph showed us this by holding up 2 layers of dry paper towel, all we could see was paper towel. Once Miss Steph wet the paper towel though we could start to see that there was definitely something else there. So now we know, just because we can't see the germs doesn't mean they aren't there. Now we practise washing our hands all the time.

15.01.2022 WHY DO WE USE SOAP?// The Green room have been exploring the big questions around hand washing this week. In this experiment they looked at why soap helps to get rid of the germs. First they put some milk in a container and then floated some glitter on top. Next they touched the glitter and saw that the glitter stuck to their fingers. Then they dipped their finger in some dish washing soap and then again into the milk, and watched the glitter germs run away from the soap. We learned that the soap helps to keep the germs off our hands when we use it well.

11.01.2022 GREEN ROOM ADVENTURES// On Thursday the Green room experienced some 'small world' play where they explored a campfire beside a billabong. So much learning and enjoyment can come from exploring real world experiences on a child's level in a safe environment. Maybe one day we could do a real campfire and toast real marshmallows, mmm..., food for thought! P.s. look out for the Crocs.

09.01.2022 KOALA RELEASE// Today we had a surprise visit from the Moreton Bay Koala Rescue team. They came to release a healthy Koala, who was found in a dangerous situation, into our beautiful big gum trees. The Blue room children were able to have a quick peek at Kora and her baby before she was released, but they had to be very very quiet as she was quite scared and a little stressed.

02.01.2022 LOOK UP! // We decided it was time to refresh our roof artwork! Thanks to the help of the Year 9 Mueller College Art students we were able to replace the 15 year old signs with new colourful images of biblical events that highlight the providence of God. Next time you visit us don't forget to look up!

02.01.2022 EARN AND LEARN:// Thank you so much for collecting your Woolworths earn and learn stickers for us in 2019. Today we received the collection of goodies we were able to order with points we were allocated. The children will really enjoy the learning experiences that will be planned with these exciting new resources. We hope we will have the opportunity again in 2020 to participate in the Earn and Learn program.
