11.01.2022 Looking for an enthusiastic and friendly person to join our team. A successful candidate will have a high attention to detail, be available to fill in as required and willing to dig in when the going gets tough. This role would suit a recent school leaver, someone looking to expand their hospitality skills, a high school student looking for a full-time traineeship or someone planning on a career in hospitality. The successful applicant may be required to work in both of the Caneland stores.

09.01.2022 We have increased our span of hours in the Food Court. We have a number of staff on the Job Keeper program which has enabled this to occur and which has also kept us open. The staff have been rather bored to date, so please come and say hi! These are the revised hours until further notice.... Open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Saturday 8am to 4pm Sunday 9am to 2:30pm We will continually assess as things progress.

08.01.2022 Hi all, I just thought I give a quick update on where we are at. We have continued to trade throughout this pandemic and are surviving with the help of Job Keeper assistance. We do have some long term concerns however as our normal rent for April was almost three times our total sales for that month. We are also unlikely to know what level of rental assistance we may get for some time - and we have been told it could be well into 2021 before we know. In the meantime we h...ave turned off a number of refrigeration equipment to reduce our operating costs as much as possible. During the week we are trading between 8am and 5pm for takeaway only; we are also open on the weekends. We are constantly monitoring staffing levels, and adjusting as things change. We cannot wait until we can have some form of seating in the Food Court. We are now offering a limited range of food in our refrigerated cabinet which will increase as demand for it grows. We also wish to thank those customers who have supported us to date.

02.01.2022 Closed today due to lack of customers, will be open from 8am tomorrow. Ground Floor still open to 5pm today!

01.01.2022 Fears of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is having a large impact on our business. All staff are required to undergo specific COVID-19 training. Strict rules apply for any staff in a food business. We will also be temporarily moving away from crockery to protect our staff from accidental infection. It is with a heavy heart that I write this. ... Ive taken the unusual step of reducing shifts this week (including 2 of my own). Next week there will a very different roster with possibly reduced trading hours. The drop off in customers is unprecedented. Many small businesses are struggling right now, not just ours. I am trying to retain staff however without a significant improvement it is inevitable I will have to let people go...and they are good people too. We will also be reducing the amount of food we have on offer in order to try and keep it fresh. We are also reducing our daily muffin bake. I sincerely hope that some consideration is given to reducing rents in commercial properties. If there isnt, shopping centres will soon represent a ghost town and many of us will be paying off business debt without an income from which to do it. Please support your local businesses, we are doing our best to retain staff and stay open and we need you to do that.
