24.01.2022 Here's something very special! It's a perfect scale model of Trevassa, fully rigged, and built entirely by the hands of Ross Muir (who has crafted the beautiful bright work on the full scale Trevassa). It's an absolute work of art, and it's currently on display at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania.

24.01.2022 Looking for some great reading material now you've got HOURS on your hands? Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. So goes the world-famous mantra of the United States Marines. COVID-19 has sure changed life for the moment, and if you’re staying at home a lot (like you should be!), you might be eyeing off some nice coffee table books now there’s plenty of time to read them and ‘Blood, Sweat and the Sea’ is a pearler!... Written by Tasmanian journalist Mike Swinson, this is the epic story of local engineering businessman John Muir, and the Muir family whose maritime legacy stretches back several generations and across the globe. Growing up on the rough and tumble streets of ship building mecca Battery Point, sailing in the Sydney-Hobart yacht race at the tender age of 14, learning the boat building trade through his father, renowned sailor and designer Jock Muir, and daring to have a crack at new things, this is the story of how Muir winches which were designed, built and manufactured in Tasmania became a market leader and a symbol for punching above your weight. It’s the ultimate story of pivoting in times of crisis, adapting your business model to survive recessions and downturns, and navigating the inevitable twists and turns of life building an international business in manufacturing. Success rarely comes without enormous sacrifice, and equally massive amounts of hard work and dedication. It takes a great team of people around you to lift you up to those heights. Read the fascinating story of John, his business and his family and all the amazing seagoing vessels that happened to become part of this adventure! $79 for the standard hard cover edition, $89 for the limited edition cloth-trim hard cover. FREE SHIPPING Australia wide! Available from book stores, chandlers and yacht clubs, or https://www.muirby.com.au/store
