First up is Marta Spes-Skrbis.... Marta is a guru when it comes to English language training. She's the manager of the very famous 'English Conversational Program' and helps heaps of international students in improving their english skills and making them a pro'. Want to learn the art of talking to people effortlessly in good english? Marta is the woman you want to talk to. So come down to the discussion forum on the 3rd of September and get talking to her! Next is Lesley Freeman. Lesley works as a Consulting Psychologist/Counsellor with the University Health Services (UHS) and is also a Mental Health First Aid Ambassador at Monash University. It's time to introduce you to the next panel member who will be participating in quality discussions over a range of topics during the 'Discussion Forum-Students Beyond Borders' on the 2nd of September, one of the most awaited events featured in ISW!... Mr. Kee-Hung Tiong has been a part of the Monash University family for a very long time. Just like us, he started his journey being a Monash student in the Faculty of Science and went on from there to become the International Student Engagement Officer! Quite a journey! Kee-Hung has extensive experience working with international students over the years thus enabling him to have a thorough knowledge of their problems. For the discussion forum, Kee-Hung can provide greater insight into the international student issues that often go unnoticed and will provide expert opinion on how to tackle those issues and utilize different services available within Monash and externally. Monash University Wushu Club is the place to be!... Monash Wushu is a sports club affiliated with Monash Sport, which hold regular training sessions twice a week all year round. Newbies? Veteran? Or something in between? No problem, Master Tang LaiWei, the former Chinese National champion and Beijing Wushu Team member, will be your instructor! You get to practice traditional Wushu styles and weapons techniques including Tai Chi, straight sword and drunken fist at a friendly environment. 15.01.2022 *DISCUSSION FORUM* It's time to introduce you to two other impressive panel members that will be a part of the highly anticipated 'Discussion Forum-Students Beyond Borders'. They are Danny Ong and Sahil Puri! DANNY ONG ... Danny Ong works as a Multicultural Employment Specialist at Monash University. He is currently completing his PhD - The Construction of Work Experiences by Domestic and International Doctoral Students in the State of Victoria. He is a Monash Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) alumnus (having completed a thesis on the international student experience at Monash University), a former president of the Monash University International Students Service and author of The International Students' Handbook - Living and Studying in Australia. Using his own experiences are lessons, Danny aims at making international students aware of their merits and demerits when it comes to entering the employment sectors and raises awareness amongst international students regarding their rights. SAHIL PURI Sahil is currently the International Undergraduate Representative-TAFE/VET at Council of International Students Australia (CISA). Sahil has been an active student member of VU-ISA (Victoria University-International Student Association) and has extensive experience working towards getting international student concerns voiced and acknowledged within university and externally serving as the VU-ISA Vice President. Since Sahil himself is an international student and has dealt with all the hardships that come along with it, he is the one person you would want to talk to know about how to better deal with issues and find a way out! 14.01.2022 Dear All! LACE Dance Crew is heading to our International Student Week Night Fiesta next Tuesday, 1st of September, from 4-8pm at Lemon Scented Lawn! In case you don't know them yet...... LACE is a girl group composed of 4 members: Hip Bunnie, Zi Yun, Carmen and Mei Li. They are four close friends from different cultures sharing the same passion for K-pop dance! With their enthusiasm and love for K-pop, LACE is gradually rising to prominence since their establishment earlier this year. Monash Modern Jazz (MMJ) is a student dance group that base on Caulfield Campus. MMJ believes dance can break through all kinds of language, cultural and national barriers!
