24.01.2022 This contemporary house with its red door and pillars, lends itself to a garden that incorporates elements of the Japanese garden. Here, the focus is on simplicity, balance and harmony. The traditional Japanese tea garden use of stepping stones is employed in the curved axial route to the front door. Here, granite pavers are set within smaller pebbles and the path winds invitingly through the dwarf Japanese maples to the entrance. Plants, including flowering cherries, azaleas..., nandina and liriope continue the theme. In the rear garden there is a well sited pond beneath a large flowering cherry tree.

19.01.2022 This new garden was formerly a large, open grassed area. Now, pathways of decomposed granite meander through the new garden with its wide, curved beds filled with native plants. The focus here is on contrast in foliage and texture and plantings in a naturalistic and relaxed style. Although, only relatively new, the garden has settled into its site and has created a place for native birds and insects.

14.01.2022 My favorite Autumn performer in the perennial garden...Sedum Matrona

14.01.2022 The core characteristics that define the Mediterranean style garden are all here with patios, courtyards, water and pergolas in this very new garden. The plant palette is made up of cypress, lavenders, olives, citrus, rosemary, grape vines and ornamental grasses. The focus is on an outdoor lifestyle with the pool dominating the design and many places to sit and enjoy the garden. The rear courtyard is divided into two with a central stone path leading through matching garden beds and lawn blocks, to mirror image decks with seating backed by cypress. The bright red geraniums in large containers, scattered throughout the garden, give a casual elegance and complete the Mediterranean picture.

11.01.2022 This garden of 1.5 acres is made up of a series of beautifully proportioned rooms. The formal elements of hedging and axes are a juxtaposition for the blousy, free flowering plantings of roses, shrubs and perennials. Much of the garden is hidden from view and is explored as one moves from one delightful room to another. There is a white garden with a central fountain positioned at the end of the central axis, with a formal hedged rose garden and croquet lawn intersecting the ...main axis. A copse of Silver Birch and an old Oak tree complete with a seat and swing provide a wonderful place for contemplation.

10.01.2022 Increasingly, clients are requesting an area to be set aside for a productive kitchen garden as nothing beats the taste of fresh produce and the convenience of being able to make a simple meal from the garden. Even the smallest gardens can incorporate a productive growing area. The kitchen garden can be both beautiful and productive, where herbs, fruit and flowers can happily co-exist with vegetables, but in such a state, that it is elevated above the simply utilitarian.

06.01.2022 In this romantic garden, the ubiquitous front lawn was sacrificed for mass plantings of perennials. Here, large beds containing salvias, penstemons, Russian sage, agastaches, and sedums are intersected by meandering sandstone paths. Clipped balls of French lavender anchor the design. The focus here is on foliage and colour, where layer upon layer is combined to create repetitive sweeps of colour. A truly romantic garden.

05.01.2022 This is a garden where more than 300 roses combine with perennials and lavenders to provide a feast of colour and perfume. Garden beds are well structured with various elements including clipped balls of lavender and obelesques to create vertical interest. Everywhere, an abundance of roses cover vertical surfaces, verandahs and cascade over arches. Carefully selected perennials combine with roses to ensure they complement each other in form and colour. The courtyard, heavy with perfume, is a delicious place to sit with Rosa Pierre de Ronsard in abundance.
