As you know, the department is developing a Plan of Management for Fernhill Estate which will set out future uses that align with the draft Conservation Management Plan. In the meantime, you are invited to take the Fernhill Walking Trail on an upcoming weekend, while practising social distancing, in line with government public health orders around COVID-19. 14.01.2022 We are very grateful to see Penrith City Council being pro active around our Mulgoa Village. Today Farm Road is receiving a much deserved face lift as it a very highly used road by both local and out of area drivers. Mulgoa Progress Association is pleased to see that local consultation can make a positive difference. We will continue to work on the communities behalf and influence progress in and around Mulgoa. Please find PCC Media Statement below.... Wednesday 18 November 2020 NEWS IS HERE Local road benefits from Federal funding Farm Road at Mulgoa will be re-surfaced thanks to funding from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Grants program. The $200,000 project will re-surface approximately 1.2 kilometres of the road that is suffering from disrepair as a result of increased traffic from motorists by-passing the roadworks on The Northern Road. Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown OAM thanked the Australian Government and the Member for Lindsay Melissa McIntosh for the grant. Penrith City Council is grateful for the funding from the federal government to repair Farm Road, Cr McKeown said. Traffic on Farm Road has increased significantly over the past few years as motorists look for alternatives to move about. It’s important to recognise that this particular road was never meant to be the main thoroughfare for traffic, instead its purpose is to service local residents who live in the Mulgoa area. The governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Grants funding will allow Council to repair the road and return it to a much more desirable condition. Member for Lindsay, Melissa McIntosh MP said, For many people in Mulgoa, this road is an important part of their daily commute to work and school, and back home again. Upgrades like this improve the condition of our local roads, and increase safety while getting around our community. Better and safer roads are part of my plan for Lindsay, and delivering $200,000 from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program will provide this critical safety upgrade. The work is expected to take 3 days to complete, starting today - Wednesday 18 November. Detours will be in place with motorists asked to exercise caution around the roadworks and crew. 13.01.2022 QUESTION FOR MULGOA: Should the Mulgoa Valley be designated a 'State Heritage item'? The MPA Committee is aware of a small group of residents who have joined together to lobby our State MP's to change Mulgoa's heritage status. They have a meeting scheduled and the MPA Committee has been asked for our feedback.... Thus far the committee has struggled to find any member or resident who agrees with designating Mulgoa a 'State Heritage item'. We would love your input on this idea, either publicly below or privately via [email protected] (it should be noted, we believe changing Mulgoa's heritage status would affect every landowner and potentially affect the potential of a future Fernhill.) So... should Mulgoa be designated 'State Heritage item'?

11.01.2022 Thanks to The Department of Planning, the MPA Committee today took part in a private tour of the Fernhill Estate. It is no understatement to say that the property, including the residence which we were fortunate to be given a special sneak peak inside of, are superb. 10.01.2022 Plans for a major industrial precinct on the doorstep of the new Western Sydney Airport have been approved today by the NSW Government, paving the way for a sig...nificant boost to jobs and investment in the region. Approval of the $2.6 billion Mamre Road Precinct, one of 12 key precincts in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, will unlock 850 hectares of new industrial land and see the creation of new public spaces and conservation areas. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the green light for the Precinct is a significant step forward in securing Western Sydneys future as a global hub for logistics and advanced manufacturing. Were getting on with the job of building a new city around the airport well before the first plane takes off, Ms Berejikilian said. This land release will provide opportunities for international and domestic businesses to invest in Western Sydney, enabling major warehousing, logistics, manufacturing and circular economy operations to be established. It will also bring a huge jobs boost to the region, creating opportunities for more than 5,200 jobs during the construction phase alone. Planning and Public Spaces Minister Rob Stokes said the Mamre Road Precinct will also include 50 hectares of open space, including new cycling and walking paths that will open up previously inaccessible land to the public. A further 70 hectares of conservation land, including the Cumberland Plain Woodland, will also be protected within the Precinct. Not only does this rezoning secure much-needed productive industrial land, it also safeguards critical environmental areas and provides some fantastic new public spaces for the future residents of the Western Parkland City, Mr Stokes said. Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the rezoning is another milestone in the transformation of the Western Parkland City into a thriving hub, with new jobs, homes, infrastructure and open spaces. We already have interested businesses from the transport and logistics, pharmaceutical and data storage industries ready to move into the precinct and capitalise on its future connections to local, regional and overseas markets, Mr Ayres said. The first industrial estates for the Mamre Road Precinct are expected to be occupied from mid-2021. The Mamre Road Precinct was one of 24 projects included in Tranche 2 of the NSW Governments Planning System Acceleration Program that is fast-tracking planning assessments to keep people in jobs and the economy moving during the COVID-19 crisis. To date, the program has created opportunities for more than 16,400 direct jobs and almost $11 billion worth of economic investment across NSW. 07.01.2022 HAVE YOUR SAY: Today we received the latest mud map for the new Mulgoa Rural Fire Station from Penrith City Council ( PCC). As discussed previously, the new RFS shed was unable to be built at Mulgoa Park and since early January PCC have been working towards a solution using the current site at the end of Fairlight Rd. ... This new plan involves the closure of the access rd between The Straight Rd and Mulgoa Rd. PCC are looking for community comment, please feel free to have your say... yoursaypenrith.com.au/new-mulgoa-rfs-station PCC have told us they are committed to building our RFS a great new station and at first glance it does appear to be a good solution on a difficult site. Response times are of main concern for Mulgoa RFS. This new design does seem to help, giving the trucks direct access to Mulgoa Rd. The MPA are looking forward to hearing your feedback.

06.01.2022 OPTUS MOBILE SERVICE: The MPA is writing a formal letter of complaint on behalf of the members/community to Optus mobile. We believe that the service has diminished greatly, in and around the Mulgoa Valley. Some believe this coincides with the NBN tower being turned on and others due to on going maintenance. What ever the situation, Mulgoa deserves better.... We need more details of locations where service has diminished or lessened? If you are having issues with your Optus phone reception please comment below the area location or street name. We will not be giving any personal information of our members/residents to Optus. Optus you need to get your act together for the residents of the Mulgoa Valley!

04.01.2022 OPTUS UPDATE: Dear Members, The MPA has received the following email from the OPTUS comms team.... In short they said the fault is now urgent and they expect the service to be restored close to the 9th of September 2020. The fault is effecting 2 x towers in the Mulgoa area. They are also asking anyone effected to register a complaint as it helps to push the situation. Please see below..... Hi Tim & MPA members, Thanks you very much for raising the concern with us. Our customers are our priority and we will make sure the situation is looked after. I want to let you know that we are already working on the situation and the ETA is 9th of September 2020 as there were 2 towers effected in the area since May and they should be fixed by the 9th of sept 2020. Things should improve after that however if the repair is still not complete by the expected date the time may exceed. I will be looking into the situation personally as well to monitor the outcome. It would be great if every member facing the issue can call and lodge a network coverage complaint with us by calling 133937 so we can create a report and push the situation as a lot of customer are affected. I wanted to thank you again for raising the concern and I want to assure you that this is being looked after. Pleaase do not hesitate to contact me if any further assistance is required.
