21.01.2022 Hi All, I like to let you all know the next edition of the Mulgrave News, July 2017 will be the last. Helen and I have given this decision a lot of consideration and after taking everything into account, we have decided to finish with one last edition bringing it to 8 years exactly since the first edition in 2009. There is no doubt one of the main contributing factors was the commencement of the Pyramid Views Newsletter. The Mulgrave News was never making large profits and ...myself and my helpers over the years were only doing it for the community. Although it was not making huge losses it was impacting on my time on the other side of the business, that is Australian Menus and Compendiums, which has grown enormously over the past 2 years. Australian Menus and Compendiums currently design and create restaurant menu covers and Hotel and Motel room compendiums for restaurants and Hotels right around the world from right here in Gordonvale. Not forgetting that I am still serving the community fulltime in my other role, leaving little time for anything else. We had not lost any customers since the commencement of the other publication, it just became more time consuming, something of which I am short on. The Mulgrave News was born out of necessity for the Gordonvale community and a bit of a challenge for me. A challenge that i have managed to fulfil. Unfortunately Gordonvale is not big enough for two newspapers and in fact very difficult for one to survive, let alone both publications. I have put a lot of my own time, effort and money into the publication to keep it going up until now, and it is probably time for someone else to take over sharing community information and events and hopefully make it as popular as the Mulgrave News. In the past 8 years the Mulgrave News has given away over $20 000 to local clubs, Local Schools and individual athletes who have represented Gordonvale at State and national levels. Not forgetting donations to people who have had serious health problems or hit on hard times. Unfortunately this will be another casualty of the closure of the Mulgrave News. I really want to thank you for your support over the past 8 years, it has been a privilege doing it for the Gordonvale Community and Im sure we will cross paths again. Last of all a big big thankyou to Wendy Creek who also put a lot of time into the MN. Without her input, the MN would never have lasted anywhere near the length of time it did. We will continue to run the Mulgrave News facebook page to keep people up to date with any news. Thanks again. Dave
