25.01.2022 Open Board Meeting - Friday 11 September 9:00 am The school board are excited to welcome a guest speaker from GreenBatch who will be introducing us to the plastic recyling school program: Help give waste plastic a new life!... Our mission at the Greenbatch Foundation is to Engage, Educate and Empower, Western Australians to reduce plastic pollution and give waste plastic a new life. It is estimated by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the worlds oceans. Greenbatch Foundation was founded by Darren Lomman in 2017 with the focus of solving this problem by partnering with schools, businesses and community members creating a Recycling Collections Network collecting all #1 PET and #2 HDPE plastic containers.

19.01.2022 School Survey Today we will be sending out the Parent Survey to all families. It is hoped that all families will take the time to complete the survey. The school is constantly looking to improve the outcomes for students and the survey represents an important part of our self-assessment of the teaching and learning program, of students performance and of the schools procedures and processes. This survey provides the school with valuable feedback on how our school community... views the school which in turn helps us to continue our cycle of improvement. In 2018, parents responded with comments such as: Newsletter is more engaging and informative. The students reviews are great. Introducing new programmes, events and before and after school activities i.e. IT Scope, Colour fun run, running club. Admin has improved considerably in the last 6 months Text messages: great way of letting everyone know at the same time My child loves going to school and I believe she is having a beautiful start in her educational journey I am very happy with the Shine and Strength program that the year 6s are doing. -community focused, the school is very welcoming to new families, school activities (eg assemblies, Easter hat parade, book week) are fun and well organised. Its lovely to see the students enjoying themselves and supporting/encouraging each other, school newsletter is easy to read, informative and interesting, the text message system to parents is VERY helpful!! An email will be sent out to our mail markers which will contain a link to access the survey. The survey will be open until the end of Week 8 Friday 11 September. We encourage everyone to complete the survey so we can hear your voice.

07.01.2022 Creating a more sustainable tomorrow ... For schools, creating a sustainable approach to waste management is about more than just the budget bottom line. Leading by example is a powerful way to create positive behaviours in students, teachers, their families and communities with endless potential to change our planets future. Ever wonder what happens to old and obsolete technology when no longer useful at Mullaloo Beach PS. While we do use some as loose parts in Early Ch...ildhood and for investigations across the school, any that require disposal are done in an environmentally sensitive manner. Together with Total Green Recycling all goods are collected and recycled sustainably and ethically. In conjunction with Mindarie Regional Council (MRC), batteries and mobile phones are also recycled with a collection point in upper primary/B Block. Batteries that we recycle include: AA and AAA cells (single use & rechargeable batteries) C and D sized batteries Button batteries (e.g. from watches) 9V batteries 6V batteries (e.g. lantern/torch batteries) Mullaloo Beach Primary School also recycles (internally generated only at this stage) soft plastic and has begun to separate comingled recycling (plastic containers, tins and packaging) in addition to the paper and cardboard recycling already in place. Our toner cartridges from our printers and photocopiers are also recycled through the Close the Loop program. They collect and take back used cartridges, use a recovery processes to separates materials to a new use able form and reuse as the first option in the recycling process.
