25.01.2022 Happy New School Year to all the kids and their parents!
24.01.2022 An extra treat- the Science Week watermelon experiment in action!
24.01.2022 It was a particularly delicious recess today as students from pre-primary to Year 5 visited the cake stall run by the Year 6 students. Our fabulous Year 6s baked and sold the treats, and the fact that their tables were empty by the end of recess is evidence of just how popular their stall today was! All money raised from the Mullaloo Markets will go towards the students' end of year excursion and gift for the school.
23.01.2022 The Year 3s and 4s have been busy working on a Design and Technology project. Their task was to make an all-terrain vehicle that would be powered by a Sphero robot. They also had to code the robot using a given program. Clever stuff! This afternoon, Room 9 had great fun testing their vehicles and modifying them as required.
23.01.2022 Mullaloo Heights Primary School’s roving reporters/Year 5/6 students, have been putting their digital technologies skills to good use as they experiment with the use of Green Screen. They look forward to sharing their masterpieces with their families this week!

22.01.2022 We are very excited to have the beginnings of a recycling station in Gull block. We now have collection facilities for large number 1 and 2 plastics (milk/orange juice bottles complete with lids, strawberry punnets and some beauty product bases to name a few) thanks to Greenbatch, a new 'Containers For Change' bin for small bottles, cans and tetra/juice box packs, an oral care recycling bin for all oral care waste and a writing implements collection bin for all your old and used pens, markers and textas. Mrs Zuchetti is very excited and can't wait to see just how much rubbish Mullaloo Heights can divert from landfill! What a great way to start National Recycling Week!
22.01.2022 Thank you to our staff for providing the entertainment at our Book Week Assembly on Friday. They embraced their roles in this year’s production, Room on the Broom, with enthusiasm and passion. Thank you Anouck Van Dyck for these amazing action shots.
21.01.2022 Our clever Pre-primary students have been very busy in Talk 4 Writing. First, they learned the oral text 'Dear Zoo.' Then, they used what they knew of the text to create their own innovation of the story. Lastly, they created a video including retell and pictures as a way of publishing their own innovation. These stories were shared with families using a QR code. You can scan the codes below to hear Tom and Isla tell their innovation. Impressive work, Pre-primary!
21.01.2022 This term the students in room 8 have been investigating measurable attributes of an object. Their favourite attribute to measure was mass. Here they are, working in pairs, to measure and compare the mass of range of classroom objects.
19.01.2022 At long last, we got to enjoy our first whole school sports event since Covid restrictions. What can we say - the Athletics Carnival was worth the wait! The sun shone, the students were enthusiastic and the competition was nail bitingly close at times. Cakes, a sausage sizzle and icy poles were provided by our hard working P&C resulting in a perfect day. Enjoy the photos below showing some of the highlights.
18.01.2022 Rooms 6, 11 & 12 were the winners of the Science Quiz. These classes had 100% of their science quizzes complete and brought back to school. Well Done! They got to be part of the audience for another explosive experiment. This time involving Coke and Mentos!
17.01.2022 Pre-primary have started to do some work on the instructional text ‘How to make a delicious dessert.’ To begin with, students were asked to instruct Mrs Zuchetti to make an ice cream sundae. Students quickly learned that giving instructions can get a little bit crazy if you are not very clear about what is required! A lot of sprinkles went on top of Mrs Zuchetti before students realised that they needed to specify that they should be on top of the ice-cream!!
17.01.2022 For the first 3 weeks of Term 2 some of our students have been participating in Mod Crosse clinics with coach "Joy". In these clinics students have had the opportunity to learn basic Mod Crosse skills and how to play an actual Mod Crosse game. Coach Joy has also been coaching our Mod Cross team in preparation for our upcoming Lightning Carnival.
16.01.2022 To celebrate Science Week this year, we have been participating in The Big Watermelon Experiment. All of the classes from Year 1 - 6 have been planning, predicting, and excitedly conducting an explosive experiment in the science lab. The students transformed into little professors, wearing their art shirts as make-shift lab coats and a protective pair of safety glasses. They took turns adding rubber bands to the watermelon until it imploded. The results from our experiments ...are being collated and sent in to contribute to the data being collected by Dr. Rob Bell from Experimentary. Around 300 schools are participating. Follow this link to find out more: https://www.scienceweek.net.au/the-big-watermelon-experime/ There have been many students talking about this experiment around our school. It is very exciting to have such enthusiastic, clever students wanting to share their learning with their family and friends.
15.01.2022 The Pre-Primary students donated all their old tiny toys over the last week to help us create this awesome recycled wreath for the Bunnings ‘sing the spirit of Christmas’ competition. Our fingers are crossed that we win!
15.01.2022 During the holidays, some students from our school took part in a Periwinkle Bush community library project. They spent more than four hours painting the library box with bush images. So far, the Friends of Periwinkle have seen a great response from the community in supporting the project. The library was installed last week and there have already been books taken and added to it which is great!
13.01.2022 Last week the students at Mullaloo Heights made Oobleck in Science. They had a great time exploring its properties. Most students came to the conclusion that it can be a solid and a liquid depending on the pressure that you apply to it. They all took a small sample home to enjoy with their families. This enjoyable hands on science experience has got the classes excited about their chemical sciences unit of work.
12.01.2022 Last Friday, the students from Room 7 participated in some fun activities to celebrate their 100th day at school. Their favourite part was when they made their beautiful crowns!
12.01.2022 Book week got off to a fantastic start this morning. Before school had even started, the library was filled with students studying today’s clues to ‘guess the character’, our daily reading competition. This was followed by our Literacy Rotation. Students from PP- Y6 worked in mixed aged groups to complete a series of tasks related to books. As you can see from the photos, they had a great time. The fun is set to continue all week with a new set of clues for ‘Guess the Character’ everyday and a visit from author Mark Greenwood tomorrow. Watch this space for updates.
12.01.2022 The Year 1/2 classes have been learning about push and pull forces in Science. They made their own kites and tested them out. It was a lot of fun!
12.01.2022 As always, the Book Award assembly marked the perfect end to a wonderful Week. The students came decked in their favourite Book Character outfits and celebrated the winners of our costume and writing competitions. They were rewarded for their complete and utter enthusiasm all week with a one-off performance of ‘Room on the Broom’. Here’s a selection of photos from the day.
11.01.2022 The students of Rm 6 have been busy learning about Computer Systems in Digital Technologies. They have been lucky to have Mr Adlam join them for these lessons to share his knowledge! Students have researched how computers work, have pulled apart actual computers to see what's inside, demonstrated their knowledge of computer systems on the app "Book Creator" and will soon be constructing their own computer system out of recycled materials.
10.01.2022 Our Year 6 happy campers have arrived safely! We hope they have a fantastic time at camp and we can’t wait to hear all about their adventures!
10.01.2022 On Friday the 23rd October selected students from year 1-6 attended the Interschool Athletics Carnival held at Mullaloo Beach PS. 08.01.2022 A few book characters popped into the library this morning while Kindy and Pre-primary were listening to a story. That’s the thing about Book Week - you never quite know who is going to pay a visit to Mullaloo Heights. Unsurprisingly, our students gave them a warm welcome, asking plenty of questions and sharing their favourite book characters with our friendly guests.
07.01.2022 The Pre-Primary students have decided to raffle off their recycled toy wreaths to raise money for The Smith Family Foundation. 06.01.2022 We are sure that you have all heard the good news that school will start on Monday. We are all looking forward to seeing the students again and getting started with the 2021 school year. Although parents are welcome to enter the school grounds, we will need you to adhere to the following guidelines next week, as advised by the Education and Health Department: All adults on school grounds will need to wear a mask. Parents entering classrooms will need to social...ly distance. Where possible, please leave your child at the classroom door. We appreciate this may be a challenge on the first day when children have equipment to carry. If this is too difficult, please keep your distance from other adults when you enter the classroom and spend minimal time helping your child get organised. If the classroom is busy, please delay entering until some adults have left. From Tuesday onwards, please leave your child at the classroom door unless it is essential that you talk to the teacher. Kindy students, who are starting school for the first time, will follow different guidelines. Kindy parents have been emailed today. Please check your emails. Finally, please avoid congregating in large groups while on school grounds. We thank you in anticipation of your support on these points. All being well, these restrictions will only be needed for next week and we can return to normality at the start of Week 3. Enjoy your weekend and see you all on Monday!
05.01.2022 On Wednesday 21st October, we had our first interschool event for the year, the Jumps and Throws carnival. What a fantastic day it turned out to be with all Mullaloo Heights students participating enthusiastically and to a high standard, with many students achieving their personal best. It was pleasing to see students supporting and encouraging each other at the different events throughout the day. ... Mullaloo Heights placed 3rd overall which is an outstanding result for our school!
05.01.2022 After a fantastic morning acknowledging the highlights and successes of our Year Six students at the graduation ceremony, the group departed on their exciting excursion. Students had an absolute ball at Latitude, followed by pizza, icecream and a play in the park afterwards! Overall, lasting memories were made with such a beautiful group of graduating students.
05.01.2022 Our amazing writing box has been at school for less than a week and already we have seen some fantastic submissions! These superstar students were the first to do some writing in their own time that could be shared with the school. We are so proud of their enthusiasm for writing and we are looking forward to reading more student work in the coming weeks.

04.01.2022 It’s official! We have the most patient Year 6 students in the entire country. After a long painful wait, due to numerous Covid-19 delays, our students arrived at school today to find their grad shirt waiting for them. Not that they’ve complained in the interim: they’ve treated the wait with their usual stoicism. Ah, but ‘Good things come to those who wait!' and we think you’ll agree; they wear them well!
04.01.2022 The year 3-6 students of MHPS were lucky to experience learning the game of squash in the inflatable squash courts brought to our school by coach Tim from Squash WA. The students had a great time rallying each other in the inflatable courts! If your child is interested in playing squash you can find information here at www.squashfactory.com.au
04.01.2022 Modified slightly to accommodate Covid health guidelines, the annual Mad Hatter’s Tea Party was just as much fun as it has been in the past. Our students paired with their buddy class to share lunch and a good book. It was great to see our younger students engrossed in the imaginative story telling of their older buddy, all while wearing a silly hat.
03.01.2022 Our students had a blast at their well deserved fun day yesterday. Water slides, bouncy basketball and parachutes were just some of the activities they enjoyed. Of course, the morning was completed perfectly with a pizza lunch organised by our wonderful parents - Thank you!

However, with some creative thinking and the help of some year 5 and 6 students we were able to put some cricket activities together and run a fun morning for the students that were able to attend. Thank you to the following students who organised and ran their own activities with such enthusiasm! Lexi, Imogen, Harriet, Ella, Thomas, Evan, Ruben, Bryce, Travis and Levi.
02.01.2022 Today, the Year 6 students set up stalls to sell the toys, games and books that they no longer use. It was a case of 'everything old is new again' as students from Pre-Primary to Year Five excitedly picked up a bargain! All money raised with go towards the students' end of year excursion and gift for the school.

02.01.2022 Our Year 3 -6 students loved trying to solve the many mysteries shared by Mark Greenwood, prolific children’s author, today. Dangling the possibility of diamonds in Broome or even gold buried somewhere up north, he left a trail of clues, some cleverly hidden within his many stories. Of course, if this doesn’t work out, our student sleuths can always enjoy the treasure of a great story by opening one of Mark’s books. Mark Greenwood - Author
