19.01.2022 Last week Fire and Rescue NSW's Assistant Commissioner Rob McNeil came to your very own 388 Mullumbimby fire station to award us with a Certificate of Appreciation for our Excellence in Community Engagement. This is a commendation to 388 Station for overcoming the COVID19 challenges to deliver critical winter fire season safety messages and information, in particular through our week-long online Open Day station, which included Q&A sessions, virtual station tours, capability... demonstrations and pre-recorded content. Firefighter Kimberley Waldron was recognised by the Assistant Commissioner Rob McNeil for her dedication to community safety. Each firefighter was also presented with a challenge coin. #FRNSW #FireandRescueNSW #MoreThanFire #ProtectingtheIrreplaceable #ProudMoment Fire and Rescue NSW

19.01.2022 Please note that Pine Avenue is closed to all traffic at the moment due to an electric pole being down at Banksia place. UPDATE: residents living on Banksia place can now drive in and out of the cul-de-sac by driving slowly on the grass. FINAL UPDATE: Pine Avenue remains closed but this is our final update regarding this incident as we have handed-over the traffic control to Essential Energy. ... Thank you for your patience.

18.01.2022 Tonight, we received multiple calls, initially to a grass fire that was then escalated to a house on fire on Maccaulays Lane tonight. Excellent cooperation with the NSW RFS - Mullumbimby Brigade, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 240 Brunswick Heads as well as Police and Ambulance. #TeamWork #FRNSW #fireandrescue #together #Incident #protectingtheirreplacable

18.01.2022 Tonight at drill we practiced our door entry skills in a house on fire. It sounds simple enough, but entering any building on fire includes many risks. So before we enter, we cool the gases and linings around us so that the smoke or flame that exits the door meets cool gases and moist surfaces. After reading the fire behaviour indicators we cautiously open the door and introduce water fog into the upper zone to cool those gases. The risk assessment conducted may indicate the entry is not possible. Or it may be necessary to repeat the process several times. How many pulses, their duration and angle will be largely dependent on the geometry of the compartment and the stage of fire development. #FRNSW #FireandRescue #MoreThanFire #protectingtheirreplaceable #drill

06.01.2022 Ok, we haven't got to the end of 2020 just yet, but I think we can agree it's already been a heck of a year. It first saw us fight intense bushfires in our region and down South, then responding to floods, then adapting to the COVID-19 restrictions and associated challenges, at work and in our private lives. Let's pause a moment and, as a community, acknowledge that it was a year of unprecedented challenges... What we've gone through is big, but we've all kept going. It is ...in no small part due to the extraordinary support we gave each other and for this, we're grateful to be part of this incredible Mullum community. Continue taking good care of each other this Summer, we all need it. #FRNSW #FireandRescue #protectingtheirreplaceable #MoreThanFire

05.01.2022 We responded to a car accident this morning. Just a friendly reminder to everyone for the safety of all emergency personnel please remember to slow to 40kms when you see the flashing lights. #FRNSW #fireandrescue #MoreThanFire #protectingtheirreplaceable

03.01.2022 All Australians are now familiar with Shane's face and name as he steered our nation through the worst bushfires in our history. A well deserved recognition indeed. Congratulations Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons!
