25.01.2022 Salvage Culture is launching as a market stall at the Tyalgum Community Market on Feb 27 and looking to take this upcycling and repairer collective concept to m...arkets across the Northern Rivers during 2021. We exist to support and promote local upcyclers and repairers with the intention to increase income for these talented people in our community and highlight their invaluable role in driving a local circular economy. Please complete our survey if you are an upcycler or repairer and/or share this with those you know in the Northern Rivers. See more
23.01.2022 When you think of Mullum Cares we hope you think about waste minimisation but what we want you to understand is why we do it. People, plants and animals are being plundered across the globe to feed the capitalist beast that fills our shops with items we don’t value enough. Reducing consumption doesn’t have to mean going without. We can live happier, healthier lives that don’t harm others if we try harder to share, repair and repurpose goods we have carefully purchased for th...eir durability. Mullum Cares has a swath of project ideas to help our community to do this better. Read the excerpt below and if you would like to make a tax deductible donation to support our work please email us at [email protected].
23.01.2022 We are stoked to be in this list of nominees for this inaugural award for Circular Economy ventures in Australia & New Zealand. Big up to Greg Howell and his team at Climate Wave who are also in the running. It was because of Greg that we got our entry in. VOTE FOR US HERE If you're interested in the growing activities that make up our Circular Economy efforts then you are in for a treat!... https://www.mullumcares.com.au/the-aus-nz-circle-awards-vo/

11.01.2022 We’re looking to partner with passionate locals to deliver circular economy growth in our region. If you have ideas please get in touch via [email protected] If you know any local makers who dream of having access to particular machinery they don’t yet have, tell them to get in touch. There’s money on the table. Let’s see what we can do!

05.01.2022 This Saturday morning Nadia and her small dedicated team need a hand spreading a pile of mulch donated by Rainforest Rescue! "Tree maintenance" doesn't sound as exciting as "tree planting" but we expect you'll enjoy this just as much as you'll be out in nature and working alongside likeminded people. Planting takes a couple of hours but ensuring saplings make it to maturity requires dedication for three years or more. We hope to see you there
05.01.2022 Permaculture for kids!
05.01.2022 By Sasha On the radio on Wednesday I recounted a memory I hadn’t thought about in over 30 years - crickey I’m getting on! - my first pair of Levi’s. They had to... be washed in cold water, inside out with just a tiny bit of detergent and hung in the shade. And I loved taking care of my beloved jeans! Fast forward 30 years and the last time I bought a new pair of jeans is over 10 years ago. There’s just such a glut of denim in the op shops now and late last year I splurged and spent $80 on a pair of 501’s from Mr Vintage Australia. The sad part of this story is that I got out of the habit of revering my beloved Levi’s and wore them to a tree planting day where they got covered in Myocum mud. Now they are stained and I realise I didn’t look after them the way I should have, the way I did when I cherished them. I’ll be bringing these and other textile problems I have tomorrow and invite all who are coming to bring anything they would like to share. Whether it helps demonstrate the problems or solutions we hope to engage our community with that will lead to less textile waste and emissions being produced. I’ll even be bringing along a couch I recently bought BECAUSE it has water marks and a ciggy burn that I can’t wait to fix
