20.01.2022 To our fellow Mullumbimby community members, We thought it was time to address some of the rumours floating around regarding the closure of our business. COVID-19 put a stop to all events in March and we have suffered greatly because of this. We rely on the Byron Shire being one of Australia’s most popular wedding destinations to keep our business running effectively.... We would like to take this moment to be completely honest with our customers, some of which have been with us for our full 15 years of ownership.... we are struggling! Just like everyone else at the moment. We have discussed our future for the business at great lengths, and yes we have absolutely considered closing our doors already. We cannot tell you right now what the future holds but it looks like there are some big changes on the horizon for Mullumbimby Hire and Sales. At this time we are still 100% operational and would appreciate any support from our local community. We will of course update you all as we consider other decisions. Have I mentioned we are a little bored in the shop We would usually we putting up/pulling down three marquees a week this time of year... I think we’re going a little mad! 17.01.2022 Corona Update from the Mullumbimby Hire Team...... After much deliberation and with a heavy heart, we have made the hard decision to start cutting back our opening hours again.... We are really feeling the impacts of the virus and this potential second wave is certainly scaring us! We feel this is the most appropriate move for ourselves while things are so slow.... From Monday 3rd August we will be open: 730am - 430pm weekdays and 8am - 12pm Saturday. I will provide updates if these hours decrease further. 02.01.2022 Well Mullumbimby, the time has come... After 15 years (and two weeks - to the day!), today is the day that Mark steps down as the owner of Mullumbimby Hire and Sales. I don’t even know what to say... what a bloody ride it’s been. From a small primarily tool hire business to one of the Byron Shires most well known Wedding and Event Suppliers; as well as building on equipment hire and pool servicing! Safe to say that dad doesn’t do things in halves - it’s pretty great to b...e able to watch someone you look up to work hard to create a business that is such a big part of the small community we live in. An even greater feeling was working alongside dad for 7 years (and both ending up alive at the end... ). After a stressful 12 months our entire family is breathing a huge sigh of relief to come out the other side with dad still intact (for the most part ). This was not an easy or quick decision - in a lot of ways it’s hard to let it go; in more ways it’s the best move right now. And if you see Mark skipping down the street.. now you know why! To our customers... it’s been a genuine pleasure to serve you and get to know you. We thankyou for your business over the years - some of you there from day dot! The support from our community in the last 12 months in particular has been overwhelming. We couldn’t have made it even this far without all of you. Business at Mullum Hire will remain the same as usual. We are happy to welcome the new owner and to be showing him the ropes. Terry is great to work with and we think you will find this transition quite smooth. Looking back at a few memories from past years... Our hearts are full and we’re ready to move on.
