25.01.2022 Kimbra is thrilled things are returning to normal around Burnie and Wynyard. Kimbra is a very social person and being stuck at home wasnt much fun. Although there were many activities she could do at home, Kimbra has really missed going out for her coffees around Wynyard and seeing the regular workers at the cafes. I was getting cabin fever she said. Kimbra spoke to Jessi, Team Leader at her home about the positive impacts of regulations lifting. I am happy I get to go ...out for coffees and morning tea I cant wait until Seabrook Hotel opens back up so I can have one of their steaks I got to see my friend Emily from Beattie Street and I havent seen her in a long time, she made me curried chicken for lunch. We hear you Kimbra. While we should remain careful and continue practicing social distancing and hygiene practices, it is certainly a relief to be able to connect with people much more freely and enjoy the little things we so often take for granted.

25.01.2022 Wayne Flint from Waratah-Wynyard Council has developed a landscape design for our residences in Somerset. Joel and Joshua enjoy gardening and landscaping and will be making Waynes vision into reality with Owen. The three started off the works last week with some solid weeding. The area will transform at the hands of our clients and people over the coming months.

24.01.2022 Aaron and Steve had a blast with the snow outside their home yesterday morning. While Larni struggled with good humour to get down the driveway , Emma had a laugh at Nicole running around, pelting Steve with snowballs . Aaron was filled with wonder at the unexpected change in his homes surrounds, often exclaiming Wow as he looked around .

24.01.2022 Devonport's Social Club donned themselves in various hues of blue earlier this month for a colour themed night of fun. The group practiced their songs for their end of year celebration and involved themselves in all the activities and good company available. Ashton and Lisa won Best in Blue with Mathew, Penny and Michael not far behind. Alec was also acknowledged as the staff member who best embraced the blue theme.... Well done everyone!

23.01.2022 A huge thank you to all who joined us for the July School Holiday Program. Freaky Friday activities wrapped up the two weeks of fun. We cant wait to do it all again in a couple of months.

23.01.2022 A super easy and low-cost activity to do from home is pressed flower art. The group at one of our Launceston residences has collected flowers on a walk around the local community and pressed them in a simple flower press they made themselves. Nelly and Aimee have created some bookmarks and arranged and glued flowers on an A4 sheet of coloured paper to give to their families as gifts.

22.01.2022 The July School Holiday Program was jam-packed with activities across the Devonport region. We have shared some photos already but here are some more insights into the action. It is not all that long until the next holidays are upon us. In the meantime, our Kidz Club is on every Monday from 3 to 5:30 pm. With pick up at local schools and home drop off, join in and kick off the week with some added fun. https://bit.ly/3jpnht5

21.01.2022 How beautiful are these creations?! Chelsea, Paula, Alison and Andria have made bead wall hangings/mobiles during the break from Community Access. They enjoyed threading the beads, choosing that activity nearly every day. Chelsea and Paula assisted Alison and Andria to finish theirs, so they were all completed. ... It was a pleasure working with the ladies the last 9 weeks and the staff... Thank you. Wendy Cullen, Disability Support Worker

21.01.2022 Two of our stunning Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes were officially opened on Tuesday by Senator the Hon Richard Colbeck. Emily Crescent in Somerset is home to some of our wonderful residents who generously opened their homes to key stakeholders, sector representatives and the wider public. These homes combined with the purchase of three properties (2 in Burnie and 1 in Wynyard) allowed Multicap Tasmania to relocate all of our residents at Panorama to more con...temporary living environments last year. The development at Emily Crescent represents a significant investment by the Board of Multicap Tasmania and we are delighted with the results we were able to share with the community earlier this week. Multicap Tasmania CEO, Nigel Hill would like to thank Housing Tasmania, our design team and project managers 6ty Architecture Surveying Engineering, 2BBuild and Lisa and Matt Dixon, the subcontractors who worked on the site, Waratah-Wynyard Council and in particular Wayne Flint for design work in the initial landscaping at the site, the Board and staff of Multicap Tasmania and the residents and their family members who worked with us through the transition. Thank you to all who took the time to celebrate these properties, all they offer those who call them home and what they represent in the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme environment.

21.01.2022 Miranbeenas music room is transformed every Tuesday morning into a yoga studio. Kristin takes the group through various poses and exercises tweaked to their current level of flexibility and balance.

21.01.2022 Ben and Anna fill their time together with a lot of fun activities. They cook together, play board and card games, get active on the trampoline and exercise their imagination playing with Nerf guns and role-playing different scenarios one which got them stuck in a time warp with zombies. See if Ben or Anna was the winner of a recent race down by the beach. Featuring Max, Ben’s lovable dog. Watch the video on Ben’s YouTube channel, Joking Pluto. Don’t forget to subscribe if you want to follow what else Ben gets up to.

21.01.2022 Take a moment to join us in appreciation of Lisa and her contagious smile. Lisa made the most of the photo booth during our Freaky Friday activities. She jumped in for a new pose in a new accessory more than a few times.... You look amazing as usual Lisa.

21.01.2022 Ritchie Avenue is bursting with Christmas cheer. Amanda has lead the residents and house team in going all out with the decorations. The group even involved the neighbours in the property’s transformation. The house has been listed on the Elders Burnie Christmas Lights map for everyone in the community to come and appreciate. If you’re in the region, take a detour to the house to truly appreciate the display in person. It really packs a punch.

20.01.2022 Cafe Ahimsa is a small yoga and movement healing space in Burnie that will be holding intimate yoga and movement classes. It is opening its doors this Friday for a sneak peek. With plans to manufacture yoga props and supports, owner Kristin is hopeful that this side of the business will provide support for young folk with additional needs to gain work experience and learn skills in manufacturing. Get out of your routine and make Cafe Ahimsas opening a destination for your Friday.

20.01.2022 Aimee and Luke had lots of fun making pizza on a horrible, rainy day. It looks so good and I'm sure makes many of us hungry just looking at it. YUM!

18.01.2022 Residents had some unexpected fun with the fire alarms going off at their home in Launceston. Everyone was safe and the home was cleared no fire, just excitement. The alarm followed by sirens and a visit from the fire department was certainly a surprising highlight of the day for the household. The firemen were kind enough to pose for a photo with Steve and Aaron to remember the event.

18.01.2022 You may have seen Kristin doing an amazing job guiding Emma, Chelsea and Andrea through some yoga and mindfulness exercises in a post last month. She has now launched her own space in the Burnie CBD Cafe Ahimsa. Kristin put on a beautiful spread and fulfilled her role as host wonderfully at the launch event on Friday. A considered, sensory space where people are welcome and safe. Congratulations Kristin! You should be proud.... Experience the space for yourself classes start September 1. The Fairy Godmothers are raising funds for some exciting projects and featured some yoga themed raffle prizes at Caf Ahimsas launch. We are so happy to be able to share some small insights into the lives of our incredible clients and staff.
