25.01.2022 Invitation: Film Première: Connecting Conversations: English classes during Covid19 Date : Tuesday 23 March 4 pm. By April 2020, the first wave of the Covid19 pandemic was reaching its peak. To prevent further spread, AMES face-to-face English conversation classes needed to cease, leaving many class members further isolated in a new city. Formerly meeting at the City of Melbourne’s Multicultural Hub, one class of around 10 relatively newly arrived migrants and their volunt...eer tutors resolved to continue their classes virtually, meeting twice weekly throughout almost nine months of lockdown. Celebrated Iranian documentary film maker Ms Mozhgan Pazooki, a regular participant in the classes, decided to capture the positive impact of the online sessions on her classmates, their tutors and herself. Filmed entirely remotely, her inspirational documentary film is a lasting tribute to the resilience, practical support and friendship shown by the group during a particularly challenging and unusual time. We are delighted to invite you to the Première screening of Connecting Conversations: English classes during Covid19 The screening will include a Q & A session with the film maker and some of the participants and is part of Melbourne’s Cultural Diversity Week celebrations. Light refreshments will be served. Places are limited. Please click on the link below to register and secure your spot. This is a free event. www.multiculturalhub.eventbrite.com.au
