19.01.2022 Hi everyone, I'm organising another strength, core and running drill workout program. This will take place each Sunday for 8 weeks, leading to Christmas, starting Sunday 29/10 with the last one being 17/12. These sessions will be between 1hr15 and 1hr30 in length and contain;... * strength exercises * plyometric exercises * stretching * core workouts * running drills All with a focus on building and maintaining strength, flexibility and specific movements for triathlon. Although building a stronger body is beneficial for us all in everyday life. The location will be the oval behind the basketball centre and the starting times being 4:00pm. A nice way to finish off your weekend! The cost for the program will be $50 pp. Those returning from last program will receive a discount. Built in is a "miss of 1 session".....means your actually paying for 7 sessions but you have 8wks to do them and if you do all 8 there is 1 for free! Please msge me prior if interested, or to ask questions, so it enables me to best prepare. Looking forward to seeing people there. A stronger you......is a better you! Steve

17.01.2022 Very beneficial. Water running is so good for you. Sebastian Kienle used it prior to winning Ironman World Championships in Kona 2014.

16.01.2022 I wrote the other day about rest and then strength with, I guess, a focus around them being off-season targets. In reality if placed within your season or at anytime they are very beneficial. This area I'll target now however is perhaps the area that can provide the biggest bang and improvement.....and not just from a sporting perspective but in our every daily life. The CORE!... Working on the core.....and for this aspect it includes from the backside to the top of the stomach.....front, back and sides. For daily activities it provide us with the stability for a correct posture.....absolutely delays any form of back pain. For sporting endeavours....the stability to kick a football, swing a bat or throw a ball. For Triathlon. A strong core benefits and is key for strong swimming and better rotation, upper body stability in the bike so the legs continue to do the work required for longer...not to mention the ability to stay in a tucked position longer which reduces wind drag and therefore faster times. For the run it allows the legs to keep moving and the body to stay strong and not hunch over impacting on the diaphragm and reducing the leg stride. The core is not just the 6 pack muscles of the stomach either...they are for the beach and in reality do little to provide a true strong core. Two simple exercises to build a stronger core are the plank and the Bridge (or butt lift). A stronger core will improves the body in so many ways.....focus on it....the benefits will come. Want to improve your core?....give me a call. Steve

04.01.2022 Purpose...... Did the session you did yesterday or this morning or have tomorrow have a purpose? Did it lay another brick in the foundation of your training plan?... If it didn't or you don't really know how it fit into your training plan/program then more than likely it wasn't training it was exercise! Nothing wrong with exercise as it's great but it isn't training. Training implies a plan and (key) a purpose! Each session must have a purpose for your program and build so you can achieve your goal!

01.01.2022 Raced, coached and observed at Sunshine Coast 70.3 on the weekend and again came away believing a few things when it comes to having successful results. In my belief it requires a few key things, they are: A GOAL....a tangible goal to achieve....something that makes you stretch that little bit beyond what is comfy!... COMMITMENT.....to train, to listen, to rest, to the plan set out by your qualified and experienced coach. CONSISTENCY.....in your training, your diet (eating and drinking). TRUST/BELIEF......in the plan set out enabling you to achieve (that is what the coach sets out to enable you to do), in yourself. Don't deviate....extra sessions or whatever that other person does isn't in your plan! MOTIVATION/DESIRE....this must come from you and within...a coach doesn't motivate....they enable you to achieve however they do not get you out of bed and do the session....only your personal motivation to success/achieve does that. EFFORT.....at some point or at many points during your training and during the race you will need to make the effort, to push that little bit more, to go past your previous boundary.....no effort and generally no result. FOCUS.....a focus on what you are doing. It's easy to drift during your training and during a race and before you know it your pace has dropped or you instantly become flustered by a drop of nutrition. All of the above seems very clinical and overly serious and perhaps it is. I won't apologise for that given I want results for the people I coach and for myself. However when you enter a race, you pay money so it's not all that cheap, and when there is a goal associated you have started down the track of emotionally connecting yourself to this task and a potential process with a hugely satisfying reward at the end. The points above are required to achieve....to succeed....more often than not without them, and seeking the guidance of a coach, you won't. On the weekend...to me that was again so evident.
