25.01.2022 Our regional Ambassador Michael England was out this weekend competing in Gladstone’s Annual Multitrade Building Hire 6hr event. The enduro mountain bike event, tests the gumption of each rider over an undulating 8km circuit with the victor being the rider who completes the most laps. Michael had this to say on the event; The Race Base has a great atmosphere, entertaining through music, food and plenty of race banter. The conditions this time of year are perfect, where the ...temps aren't too hot at 2pm race start and entering into Sundown not becoming too cold. It seems to work nicely. What were your times? My race this year, unfortunately ended at the 2hr point from multiple rear flat tyres. But still, I managed to enjoy the remainder of the event on the sidelines cheering on and fulfilling timing duties. A great day out. How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected the sport and your training regimen? Other than the Covid Race Plan the Club had in place, Covid luckily didn't affect the event much at all. With the majority of entrants travelling from around CQ regions, the numbers were still good. My training hasn't been altered either this year. I've had a lot of time off the bike which has been really nice. Obviously my fitness is not anywhere near National level, but I've had no expectations on big races this year. What upcoming events do you have? "I'll continue to support local events around Qld. No pressure on results, just keeping everything low key for 2020".
