20.01.2022 The Anti-Bias Approach in Early Childhood, edited by Dr Red Ruby Scarlet, now in its 4th Edition, continues to build momentum for centring equity, tackling bias and creating beautiful ethical learning experiences and environments with and for children in the early years. This edition features many new contributors who generously share their inspiring stories, directly from the classroom, walking us through their thinking, negotiating and practice processes of how they have be...en exploring anti-bias approaches in current times. This edition also highlights contributions from children telling their stories about their experiences of childhood in a changing world. New to the anti-bias issues addressed, is a focus on climate change and the ways children experience it as part of their worlds, working with children with intersex variations, transgender and cisgender masculinities, and equitable learning environments beyond the classroom into cities and the bush. It is eclectic. The edition is lovingly embraced by Acknowledgments of Country and holds steadfast to Indigenous self-determination and leadership. New research focusing on gender identities, challenging ableism, diverse abilities, diverse languages and advocacy partnerships ground the practices they illustrate. The Anti-Bias Approach in Early Childhood 4th Edition introduces a revised version of the anti-bias goals to reflect the changing nature of contemporary identities and how they are expressed. It also features a new set of Anti-Bias Actions to guide expression and integration of anti-bias approaches across operational and curriculum practices. The book is tied together by a fresh look at anti-bias curriculum guided by the Anti-Bias Goals and the Anti-Bias Actions. It is a culturally textured collation of accessible research, practice and theory, all in pursuit of creating beautifully inclusive education where children flourish in all of their diversities and differences towards critical inclusion Pre-order here: https://multiverse.com.au//the-anti-bias-approach-in-earl/

19.01.2022 Award-winning artist and illustrator Dion If you have not had the privilege of experiencing Dion’s work, you are in for a treat! Dion uses his great passion for drawing (mostly country and camp dogs) as a means of communicating with others. In collaboration with Darwin-based writer Johanna Bell, Dion has since illustrated three children’s books published by Allen and Unwin. ‘Too Many Cheeky Dogs’ (2013) has sold close to 10,000 copies since its launch. ‘Go Home Cheeky Animal...s!’ won The Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Award in 2017 (Early Childhood category) and the Territory Read Awards in 2018 (Children's or Young Adult category). Dion and Johanna’s latest memoir: Cheeky Dogs: To Lake Nash and Back, was published in June 2019. While ‘Too Many Cheeky Dogs’ was originally written for young children in remote areas, the book (and the two that followed) proved to have much broader appeal, as well as becoming an invaluable teaching resource in a variety of learning areas.
