20.01.2022 SECOND PETITION TO SAVE THE HEADLAND EXPIRES AT MIDNIGHT Distinguished Professor Aileen Moreton-Robinson is a highly respected and successful Quandamooka woman ...from North Stradbroke Island. Today's Guardian article (see our comment for a link) is a reminder of her sincerity, her determination and her continued attachment to the Island. Professor Moreton-Robinson (pictured) was one of a number of Quandamooka Elders, including Uncle Gary Tippo (the petitioner - see last paragraph), who last year spoke at a Point Lookout rally (attended by hundreds) against the plan to construct a building to house a whale skeleton on the iconic, sacred, Point Lookout Headland. While a hugely successful 'Save the Headland' petition continues to grow beyond 30,000 signatures (see our comment), today is the last day to sign a second, month old Quandamooka Elders' petition requesting Parliament to assist in repealing a highly controversial and underhanded "ministerial" approval of the proposed building. 18.01.2022 This is very powerful. Because it is true. Showing up in actions and authenticity is hard, especially with people who are experiencing things that can only be understood by lived experience. I have experienced far too often an offering of good will, but without true human follow up. It's hard to feel safe in relationships that are hallow with good intentions. Experiencing these deeply challenging spaces of 'not been seen' but expected to be grateful for self affirming patte...rns of good intentioned folk. I also realise I have acted in similar ways. So sharing with an open heart for mutual growth and movement towards collective healing. A shared becoming... #becoming #together It has motivated me to show up in the places and for the people most forget. To hold ground for people when they can not, the messy stuff of living... I'm good with that. Because I have been there... So this is my own call to self to show up more. To do that work, the personal audits to be more aware of false statements I may say on autopilot and ways I can be a better human by #showingup I have been broken, messy and completely undone.
