23.01.2022 I see you. I hear you. I give you space to express your unique Self. These are the three takeaways from @melissaambrosini podcast with @the.holistic.psychologist that resonated the most with me.... As we become aware of the repetitive patterns that we play out in our lives, the inner child is usually reacting and responding with learned behaviour that got our needs met. We need to be seen, we need to be heard and we need to be given space to express. I've been working with my inner child for a while now with HORÓ Counselling - Aleksandra Staneva, PhD and I've come to realise that it needs some serious love. And what I now have the awareness to see is that sometimes, those learned coping mechanisms stop us from connecting with others, particularly our children. I am never going to be a perfect parent and I don't strive to be. However, if I can take the time to see my son, to hear him as his own person and not assimilate him into my own thinking and give him space, I might just support him that much more. The best parenting advice I have ever been given? Work on yourself, sort through and do your inner work. That way you won't pass on your own inner child trauma responses. Sending love and support today beautiful parents and friends
23.01.2022 We are wrapping up our Mater Mothers at workshop series this week with mini dream catchers Over the past 6 months, we have been delivering online workshops for mothers on bedrest waiting to have baby and recent outpatients with their new bub. It has been incredibly humbling and rewarding to get to know so many strong women and follow their birth journey. We will be working on our next delivery over the next few months with the wonderful OT team headed up by Mary @dovelilystyle. So excited to create some new crafts and bring women together in a safe and supportive creative space.

20.01.2022 These beautiful women This group has been such an open sharing circle of love, support and vulnerability. Thank you for showing up exactly as you are each week and being honest about your journey. I know as a chronic people pleaser I often hide the truth of my feelings and this group has modelled to me so much about the power of solidarity through raw, straight up honesty. We made some pretty things over the past six weeks but we learnt so much more about sharing the journe...y of motherhood and ALL that it brings for each of us. Much love to you all x #mothersgroup #womenscircle #womensupportingwomen #mumlife #mama #newmum #craft #creative #postnatalwellbeing #postnatal #newmum #mumsandbubs

We have two groups ready for booking: February: 6 Week Mums and Bubs Craft Group... March: 6 Week Beginner Sewing Group We need to rebuild our community and support our new mums so please share this far and wide! 19.01.2022 Giving you a kiss on all the hardest days... It's been three weeks of healing for Ziggy after his accident (he tripped backwards into a campfire still hot from the night before). I have relearned how to be a stay at home parent and so has his dad. We have shared the care between work days and so many lessons have arisen for all of us! Ziggy eases back into daycare tomorrow and I've made a commitment to take a day out from my business each week to be with him. He will be at sc...hool in two years and whilst a day may be not enough, it's made me realise how important our moments together are. I'm not going to lie, I'm over playing transformers, ninjas and mini force but I do have a new appreciation for monster trucks. Still no forward movement on the arty projects from Z but that's the irony I guess #mumlife #mumchat #motherhood
19.01.2022 I am delivering 40 of these packs to Mater Mothers tomorrow morning for our online workshops starting January 6th. It has been an absolute dream come true to be able to craft online with mothers waiting to have bub at the Mater this year. Some I have seen for over 3 months as they patiently await their new arrival. To be able to share their joy of birth after sitting with them through an anxious waiting period is an incredible privilege. Each week we have been able to meet on...line, get to know each other and provide some calm through craft. I am honoured to be supported by the incredible OT team, headed up by Mary Matthews who took a chance on my idea nearly a year and a half ago. After a successful pilot we have been able to fund this initiative through the Mater Foundation. If you know of a mum waiting to give birth or a recent outpatient, tell them about us. It is free to join and they can talk to their OT or midwife about getting involved.

14.01.2022 It's been a really challenging year for everyone and small businesses have really felt it. I'm so grateful for these two savvy and incredible women in my life who know first hand the highs and lows of running small business. In the spirit of supporting local this Christmas, I introduce you (if you don't already know of their brilliant initiatives) to Maz (left) of Vessel Nundah and Sarah (right) of Myoni Cup . Vessel is a super cool refill shop specialising in cleaning and bo...dy products that are good for you and the environment. You bring your bottles and fill up whenever you need. Vessel also has a range of other handmade, eco-friendly products and is situated inside the The Plant Lounge in Nundah. Myoni are on a mission to end period poverty with their range of sanitary products. They currently stock a high-quality, Australian made menstrual cup that is made from material that can be recycled at the end of its lifespan. They are working on expanding to other products and have a podcast out too! You can buy direct or visit Vessel to purchase. Both of these businesses are social enterprises and give back to the community through their trade and employment. Thank you for supporting small business this year, it really means the world to us and we feel every purchase you make with us.
14.01.2022 I made some earrings for the first time in MANY months! I call them the Bon-Bon collection and they are available in Lolly or Peach pallets. You can find them over on the website if you are keen to own a pretty pair. Only 10 available, all individual with handmade tassels. Made with loads of love! Thank you for supporting my micro-biz this year, it means the absolute world!... https://www.mummagotskills.com.au/shopmumma
13.01.2022 A pink kangaroo for bookweek! Once Ziggy got over the fact that it was not the green kangaroo that he apparently asked for, even though he picked out the fur, all was well! Pink Kangaroo has been worn 2 days in a row and that makes all the crooked sewing stitches worth it! Colouroos by Anna McGregor if you're keen for a read. Disclaimer: this wild version is not present in the book
12.01.2022 Week 4 at our Paddington group and we made teething necklaces, a crowd favourite. Lots of laughs and fun today, while relaxing and finger knitting. It is so good seeing this group of mums becoming friends and supporting each other. - Lizzy workshop facilitator
12.01.2022 How might women in impact-led business best be supported? 12.01.2022 Our Paddington group started today! Face to face with appropriate social distancing of course, but YAY for groups again! These mummas made Sensory boards with facilitator Lizzy. Sensory boards are an excellent learning tool for new babies. When put in a learning space, the board encourages head and eye movement, sensory perception development and light/shade contrast. Next week we are making a rainbow sensory mobile - a new addition to our program ... Kenmore starts in October if you're keen to be part of the fun! www.mummagotskills.com/workshops
11.01.2022 A clever therapist once told me that guilt is not necessarily a feeling of wrongdoing. It's actually a new experience that we have not made up our mind about yet. I think if we apply this to taking time for ourselves, it's an indication that we have not done it enough! What does taking time look like for you? Do you craft, get a massage, have a bath, go for a walk? There are so many things that we crave to do and yet I have found that the most clarity comes to me when I sit ...by myself and turn inwards. That 20 minutes in the day can do so much for the overwhelm of #mumlife. Have you sat with yourself lately? (Feeding a baby in another room doesn't count! ) Sending love and space for you today Mumma
10.01.2022 Natural Bees Wax Balm This beautiful little recipe is perfect for all types of ailments and smells divine! We are making this Balm in our Earth Mumma Workshops starting two weeks. This beautiful offering has been developed with the support of Vessel Nundah and is the first of it's kind!... Swipe for recipe to make at home #crunchymum #earthmumma
08.01.2022 Are we brave enough to share our true vulnerability? I've been watching Brene Brown at the recommendation of my psychologist and her talk on Netflix (please watch) has me thinking all about vulnerability. Sure, I can share the hardships that we all face but what about the stuff we can't speak about? Those real fears that leave us so raw and exposed? Things that live in our subconscious because they are covered in shame. The stuff that is not shared on social media, that's for... sure. That's where connection is so important. To find those special people in life that welcome you as you are, exactly in this moment. A mothers group can be so much more than a weekly play date and a baby brag, it can be a meaningful and authentic group of women who share and champion all that you are. We may come together with a baby in common but we have an opportunity to share so much more. Feb Group Open: https://bit.ly/2XA14ij
08.01.2022 Our first group for 2021 is beginning in 2 weeks! Join us for crafty good times, chats and connections with new mum friends. You don't need to be good at any kind of Art! We are making 6 cute educational crafts over 6 weeks and you can take your time with each one. Bring your baby and make some time for you. Book here: https://bit.ly/3nXwLgd
07.01.2022 What a difference 6 weeks makes! Swipe to see week one photo and then some cute shots of the sensory bottles we made at our FINAL Paddington craft group for the year. Thank you so much to the beautiful women who shared these six weeks with me. It was a pleasure to hear your stories and speak about ALL things motherhood and beyond. If you are interested in joining our groups in 2021, the waitlist is now open! ... https://bit.ly/382SNs8
06.01.2022 I am pretty biased but this little nephew of mine is just too cute! Ruben was our tester for the sensory bean bags we are making this week in our Mums and Bubs group and we think they passed the test! Sensory bean bags are a great way to engage little ones in playing with textures in a safe way. You can fill them with anything you like and even add essential oils for more fun! Reuben is playing with a rice, spiral pasta and dried chickpeas but the options are endless!... #sensoryplayideas #mum #sensorydevelopment
04.01.2022 Our last workshop for the year was wonderful! We had a beautiful mix of mums and bubs and a creative group of school girls too Thank you to everyone who has crafted with MGS this year. It has been so difficult on many levels and I am grateful to everyone who has joined in, reccomended or simply commented on a personal post with some love and support. I hear each of you and please know that you mean so much.... Holiday season can be hard so please be kind to yourself. It's okay to take time out and breathe, to release tears or simply to be. Sending you all much love and gratitude. Lots of love, Carlie xxx
02.01.2022 A library bag handmade by your Mumma. Is there anything more special? This workshop always makes me smile with the love and thought that goes into choosing the fabric to tracing the letters, to adding special little embellishments. Thank you for making Fridays lots of fun beautiful women.
