21.01.2022 People often get these two confused and refer to them as the same thing. Tantrums and Meltdowns look very similar, so the confusion is understandable. This diagram has some good explanations. If your child is having either of these, they require emotional support. But there are different ways in which you support before, during and after depending on which one it is.
21.01.2022 Children don't need the big flashy expensive toys. Think back to your childhood, what do you remember playing with? My Grandma used to give me a jar of split peas, I would plant them an water them for days. Got so much joy when my planta grew. Of course as an Adult, I now realise the split peas were not seeds and my much loved plants were just garden weeds. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=310129280433418&id=109574943822187
17.01.2022 Tummy and floor time is very important for development. How does your little one go with tummy time? What tips do you have to help your little one enjoy their time on the floor?
16.01.2022 It's so important to respect any Mumma's request. Her child, her rules. It's even more important to be mindful in this very stressful situation of having a bub in NCCU. As a family member or friend of someone in this situation, you can sometimes feel lost. You want to be supportive, but not 100% sure how. Make meals to drop off at home, offer a lift (and a lift only, drop and run style lift) to the hospital, offer to take any other children out for a bit of fun (it's just as... stressful for them), send a text letting them know your thinking of them, but don't ask questions or expect a response. If you have had a bub in NCCU, what kind of support did you find helpful or what did you wish you had? https://m.facebook.com//a.278224779491116/533958767251048/
16.01.2022 Think about the price of most of these items...... Children don't need the big flashy expensive things to thrive! They get just as much, if not more joy from the Freebies of Nature.

13.01.2022 I've noticed a lot more unsettled babies and young children. The kind of unsettled that I usually see during a full moon. At the moment it isn't a full moon, so what is causing this increase? I once heard an analogy about stepping from a steady, secure jetty into a rocking boat. You are a little hesitant to make the leap, but because you have the secure base of the jetty, you have the confidence to make the transition. Our children are very similar. They rely on us to be the... 'jetty', the secure base, something they can rely on during times of uncertainty. Currently with the world the way it is, we as adults are not as certain as we were a month ago, some of us have lost income, some of us have lost family members, some of us are really missing human connection and interaction. We are torn between doing what we have always done and listening to all the different opinions and advice. We are learning to navigate this new way of living at the moment. We we are learning a new skill, we are a little wobbly. I think the children of the world, even the teeny tiny ones, are sensing that their 'jetty' isn't as secure as it could be, and that's OK! We need to make sure we support our youngesters through these uncertain times. Make your home a place that is safe and secure. Show your children it's OK to have worries and stress, show them how we deal with it in appropriate ways. The first 5 years have an impact for LIFE! The first 5 years is were the brain does the most developing in the shortest amount of time. The neurological pathways are being formed for the first time for many experiences. These pathways stay with us for life. Keep this in mind as you nurture your children, our future. We want to make sure they have the tools to become capable and competent adults. See more

08.01.2022 What is something you are grieving with this current pandemic? Allow yourself the time to grieve, you have the right to do so.
07.01.2022 It's an important lesson to teach our children...... A fun why I like to do it with little people is with animals or colours..... 'The cow says neigh'....... 'The banana is pink'........ Children will often look confused at first, some will reply with 'noooo, the cow says MOOOO!!!' Others I may need to say, 'silly me, the cow doesn't say neigh, it says moo'. This is providing them with the safe opportunity to share their opinions and challenge mine, as they know the banana isn't pink, they know it is yellow and they are given the opportunity to safely correct my misconception.
05.01.2022 Dear Expectant Mummas, You are getting closer to meeting your little bundle of joy. You have spent lots of time growing and preparing for the big arrival. Rest up while you can, I know sleep is tricky at the moment, but still rest your body. Your mind and body is about to work harder than it ever has. Make sure your bag is packed and babies too! Have a smaller back up bag in your car just incase. These babies have a mind of their own and sometimes catch us off guard. Prepare ...Continue reading
05.01.2022 As I'm sure you can appreciate in these current crazy times, all face to face support will be stopped until further notice. I am still available to support through technology, so please reach out if needed. There will be no fees charged during this time. There are 2 reasons for this decision. 1) Online and phone support isn't as intense and wont achieve the same level of results. 2) my aim is to support families not burden them. ... We are all in this together.
04.01.2022 Play = life skills

02.01.2022 Happy Mother's! You Mummas do a great job everyday.
01.01.2022 One - on - One Time is very important in our house. Usually, we take one to woolies or pop out for a date. Although there are heavy restrictions in place at the moment it's still very important to find ways to spend quality time with your children.
