11.01.2022 Beginning 13 year old Sophia on a technique development program for her lifting in her pt session. Working here on her first session for snatch. Focusing on this 2 position drill to reinforce correct bar path and ensuring the power position is hit each time. In the frames above far left is of power position, middle is her full extension. Had her try and stay flat footed throughout the pull. Video shows the actual drill. Awesome work for her first oly dedicated session #olylifts #olympiclifting #youtharethefuture #youthlifting #weightlifting #snatch #coaching #drills #barbell #technique #training #fitspo #lovecoaching #livetolift #lifting @crossfithf @soph_crossfit

06.01.2022 Weightlifting tip of the week- Don't keep trying to hit a max on your lifts too often in your training. It's not how it works. Instead focus on GOOD looking reps and work on improving mobility and fine tune technique. ... Try hitting good quality reps at 75%-85% of your max 80% of the time. Do this and your doing pretty good. Get good triples at around 80% consistently and your doing tops! There is NO point in training at 90% with crappy form and expecting that it will eventually feel better. It won't! Not only that but it's counterproductive as your practicing bad form. Bad form that you'll have to work hard to undo eventually. As slow a process progression can sometimes feel, it's a lot faster than trying to change or correct movement patterns. Try and MAKE, not fail the majority of your lifts in training. Doing so builds confidence and instills good movement patterns. It also reduces your chance of injury. A good thing. Coming in week after week hungry for that pr is a good thing but failing over and over is bad. It will instead wear you down physically and mentally. Be smarter, train smarter. The day every so often that it all comes together is magic. If it happens on a day where 1rm testing isn't programmed in a class or hour of power etc that's ok. Sometimes you have to strike while the iron is hot. You'll know when it's about to happen and you'll find all the patience will be worth it. Happy lifting

05.01.2022 14 year old Gaby learning the snatch in her pt session today along with her sister Soph. Love training these two it's super important to understand the importance of hip drive in this movement. Working this drill from the high hang position so she can begin to feel the power the hips create. We have to work on keeping the bar close to the body but happy she has grasped the concept we were working towards today. Well done! #olympiclifting #olylifts #snatch #drills #weightlifting #youthlifting #youtharethefuture #crossfit #barbell #fitspo #fitness #lift #lifting #lovecoaching #training #practice #progress #technique @gaby.xfit @crossfithf
