24.01.2022 Well, we've all heard that plastics are bad and we shouldn't be eating from it, let alone our kids. But what about Melamine? What about Bamboo? I think we stick to the plastic options most of the time because the information about other options is just too overwhelming and confusing. So we stick with plastic, because it is cheap and doesn't break, but all the time feel vaguely uneasy that we may be doing something that might one day harm our kid's health. I am not sure about ...you, but this Mumma doesn't have time to scour through pages and pages of info on melamine, BPA, resins and compounds. What the? You lost me at compounds. I heard myself saying out loud "Just give it to me simple so I can make a quick educated choice". I have a child vying for my attention for afternoon tea. Well, here's the Mums Toolbox break down for you on our Blog: https://mumstoolbox.com.au//should-i-choose-plastic-melami Hope this helps xo

20.01.2022 KIDS SUN SAFETY The slip, slop, slap sun safety jingle is as much a part of the Aussie vernacular as thongs and Vegemite. After all, in many parts of Australia, UV levels are high enough to cause damage year-round, not just in the height of summer. But what isn’t widely publicised is the harm caused by UV radiation exposure to the eyes and the importance of kids sun safety. The danger to children’s eyes is even greater, yet many parents are unaware of the damage being cause...d by even just one day in the sun. CHOOSING SUNGLASSES THAT PROVIDE THE BEST SUN SAFETY The original Babiators were designed to provide the highest level of protection for your children’s eyes. They achieve this through a combination of the frame design, and the quality of the lenses. The close-fitting wrap-around original Babiators are modeled after the style worn by air force pilots. The lenses provide 100% UV protection, meeting the Australian Standard. Babiators sunglasses match the active lifestyle of energetic toddlers and kids. Plus, to make sun safety fun, they come in a range of colourful and stylish designs that your children will love! But don't take our word for it, go take a peak for yourself https://mumstoolbox.com.au//n/kids-sun-safety-for-the-eyes Annie Spratt on Unsplash

17.01.2022 Sleep is the ultimate Parenting Challenge from the beginning. If Baby doesn't sleep the roll on effects to the rest of the family are ..... well ...... let's say "fun". Mumma designer Malou had struggles with the to-swaddle-or-not-swaddle question. If she swaddled her son, he would wriggle, and not sleep. If she didn't swaddle him, his startle reflex would wake him up. So she designed her fabulous range of Baby Love Sleep suits to solve this and other sleeping challenges.... Many sleeping bags that were available restricted arm movement and my son hated them, so armed with an idea and a sewing machine, I created something new: a sleep suit that was roomy enough for arm movement, but with just enough resistance to keep the startle reflex from waking him. And it worked. It wasn’t long before my baby was sleeping through the night in the very first Sleepy Hugs sleep suit. The Baby Loves Sleep range was created in beautiful designs and the sizes range from newborn through to 12 months+ Baby Loves Sleep is committed to providing innovative sleep products to parents worldwide, through all stages of your baby’s development. So take a peak and see if this just might be the answer to all your baby sleeping dreams. https://mumstoolbox.com.au/pages/baby-loves-sleep

16.01.2022 We just want to take a moment to take our (virtual) hats off to those Mummas back in the remote learning classroom, who are juggling readers, babies, maths sheets, snacks, and about a hundred different online-learning passwords. Schooling looks a bit different these days, and, at the moment, it involves a whole lot of screen time. To help alleviate the symptoms of digital eye-strain, including dry eyes, eye fatigue, headaches and blurriness, follow the three simple steps be...low when your kids are learning online. 3 SIMPLE TIPS TO MINIMISE DIGITAL EYE STRAIN 1. Follow the 20/20/20 rule To help reduce digital eye strain, Optometry Australia advises taking a break every 20 minutes to look at an object 20 feet (6m) away, for at least 20 seconds. For those in the home-learning classroom, try setting a timer for 20 minutes, and then play a short game of I-Spy out the window when the timer goes off. 2. Blinky Bill Have you ever watched your children when they are absorbed during screen time? They hardly blink! This can contribute to dry, irritated eyes, as a good blink is what keeps the eyes moist. Remind them to blink at frequent intervals during screen time. Try putting a sticky note with a picture or note on the side of their screen. 3. Pop on those Screen Savers Babiators Screen Savers are designed to block the blue light emitted by devices, reducing the glare from screens that, unchecked, may contribute to eye fatigue. Pop on those Screen Savers during screen time and block the blue light in style. https://mumstoolbox.com.au//baby-kids-sunglasses/products/

14.01.2022 THE MUMMA BEHIND BOBO&BOO - NAOMI Naomi is a wife and a busy mum to two little boys. She is also the amazing Mumma behind the bobo&boo bamboo eco-friendly dinnerware. She calls Australia’s Gold Coast home, and is a beach wanderer at heart. If it involves sun, surf, camping or adventure, you can be sure Naomi will be amongst it! She is also a passionate planet lover and after the birth of her first child, she went into protective mama bear and wanted to minimize the toxins ...her little one came into contact with. The only affordable options were all made from unhealthy and unsustainable plastic. One day, the idea hit her: What if she could create quality, eco-friendly children’s dishes that were also stylish, functional and affordable? And so, bobo&boo was born. Launched from her kitchen, bobo&boo has evolved into a global brand that works to make sustainable, stylish choices affordable. Bobo&boo products can be found on dining tables all around the world, from North America to Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. We absolutely love our bobo&boo products and are very proud to stock them.

08.01.2022 To our Victorian mums. Our hearts and thoughts and prayers are with you. As a non-Victorian mum, I don't feel qualified to provide insight to what you are going through. But I want to hear how you are going. ... If you are in Victoria, what are the things you are doing to make the current juggle of 24/7 kids (and work if applicable) bearable? Even if it's just a small sanity thing, that one thing you are doing well right now. I would LOVE to hear the pooled wisdom of the Mummas who are going through this journey. And don't forget that it OK not to be OK and that a chat and a cry to someone might not appear to change your circumstances, but it can really help you. And a "helped" you can make all the difference to your kids xo Please don't be ashamed of not "coping", not performing in all the areas that usually take a village to do, that you are currently doing on your own. It's an impossible task to do all that. So do what you can, not what you think you "should".

05.01.2022 Does anyone remember what we actually DID before Ipads, or 150 channels of children’s television? We were shooed outside to make our own fun. And did we ever! In praise of the simple, we get nostalgic and remember five activities from our childhoods that should definitely make a comeback. 1. HOPSCOTCH You'll have a ball showing them how it's really done.... 2. TIN-CAN TELEPHONES Who knew that two tin cans and a length of string could provide so much fun? 3. ROPE SWING The best toys are improvised. This is one that you can rig up anywhere, whether you are out on a picnic, camping or just playing around in the back yard. 4. CLAPPING GAMES Rhythm, co-ordination, co-operation, we didn’t know we were getting so much good stuff out of ‘Down by the banks of the Hanky Panky!’ 5. MAKE A DAISY CHAIN Leaving your mind free to wander, dream and imagine. And ultimately, that’s the beauty of these simple activities. They leave space for creativity, for imagination, for downtime. After all, this is where the real business of childhood takes place!
