19.01.2022 Today is International Fire Fighters Day. Held on St Florian's Day, the patron Saint of firefighters, it is a day for us to remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for their community. Normally celebrated in Perth with a service at the Firefighters Grove memorial in Kings Park, unfortunately cancelled this year, DFES have instead produced this video to help us all remember and reflect. 10.01.2022 || RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD STARTS ON 1 APRIL || Shire of Mundaring will move to a Restricted Burning Period on Thursday 1 April. However, due to unfavoura...ble conditions, permits to burn will not be available until further notice. Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Throssell, said warm days, lower soil moisture content and drier fuels increased the likelihood for burns to lose control and escape. Typically, during a Restricted Burning period, property owners are allowed to burn during the day if they have a permit from their local brigade or the Shire, or burn small piles after 6pm, he said. However, as the Soil Dryness Index a key indicator to bushfire behaviour is of concern, and likely to remain high for several weeks, we will not be issuing permits until further notice. Land owners may still burn after 6pm, with strict conditions in place. Find out what they are here: https://bit.ly/39lLqxa #ShireofMundaring #communitysafety
