20.01.2022 My painting De Gray Station. A few years ago while I was painting at De Gray Station in the Pilbara region of Western Australia I met Jess, the... subject featured in this painting. I created two paintings of Jess, one titled Jess, Pilbara Girl was a finalist in the Black Swan Portrait Prize and this one that has never been offered for sale. But now with less and less wall space available , I am offering De Gray Station for sale. The size is 103x137cm and the price is $4,500 AUD

20.01.2022 The Darlington Arts Festival kicked off last night with a show of work by invited artists in the main room and a grand retrospective of some of Darlington's elite artists from the beginnings of this vibrant art community in the smaller room. We made a purchase: Alastair Taylor's portrait of me, painted last year for The Lester Prize. Make sure you pop in over the weekend for a wander through the show, and then drive up the hill to the Mundaring Arts Centre - plenty to enjoy... there as well. Then head back down to Juniper Galleries for a look at Peter Barker's exhibition after you visit Elements. Open Studio Collective to check out the work of Neil Elliot, Pene Turner, Bethamy Linton and Lee Woodcock. Plenty to see this weekend, so get out and get moving! Typically on a stand in the center of the stage, this li...ght is known as the ghost light. There are many stories about its origin- but its meaning is unmistakable. It means though the theatre is empty, WE WILL RETURN. So heres to us. The actors, the technicians, the directors, the carpenters, the designers, the dancers, the teachers, the students, the freelancers, those on tour, those at sea, the electricians, the stitchers, the makers, the stage managers.... THE ARTISTS. Many of us have taken big hits during this virus. Financial and emotional weights have come crashing down as our entire industry is reduced to nothing but a bunch of ghost lights. But those ghost lights are temporary place holders. They are a sign. We might be down now- but our passion, our creativity, our drive is still center stage. Well be unplugging those ghost lights in no time. Until then- heres a ghost light- to let the world know we will be back. See more
