18.01.2022 #MedicineReview #HMR #5MedsandAbove #QualityofLife Hello everyone, just a thought to have for a Medicine Review. Studies have indicated the number of influenza cases have reduced tremendously this year in comparison to May last year thanks to social distancing and routine hand washing. However, you still need to take care of your health and know the medications that you are taking and their effectiveness for your condition. How many type of medications do you take every day?... If you are over the age of 45 or have chronic conditions / health issues before 45, chances are youre regularly taking at least five or more different prescription meds. As people get older and suffer more health problems, theyre likely to continue adding to that collection of pill bottles on their night stand or pill shelf. Those medications were likely prescribed for good reason, but over time some meds may no longer be helpful, and in fact can even cause harm. For example, some medications can trigger bad reactions when combined with others or may cause side effects such as fuzzy thinking, weakness, dizziness, falls, disability and worst case, even death. Thats why polypharmacy, the use of multiple meds at the same time, is recognized as a serious threat to quality of life and healthy aging. What can we do about it? A promising strategy is a multi-step process that begins with a review of your medications. Our doctors can help assess the benefits and risks of each one and deprescribe any that are no longer appropriate. Start today by asking your doctor for a medication review. Call our practice on 9525 5600 to book in an appointment with our doctors. Just let the receptionist know you want to book in for a Medicine Review. Together with the collaboration of a senior pharmacist who is also a pharmacologist, we can work on a plan to meet your health and wellness goals and safely reduce meds you no longer need and new ones that are more effective for your current condition. A home medicine review (HMR) will be conducted if necessary thereafter, where the senior pharmacist will organise a time to visit you at home and update your doctor. This is especially beneficial for those with chronic conditions and/or the elderly. And the good thing is, if you have a valid Medicare card, your medicine review is complete bulk billed. Dont hold off the safe and effective use of medications. If you have not done so, get your medicine review done today! We are here to care for your health needs and your quality of life

17.01.2022 We believe in keeping everyone safe. Therefore we are still practicing the 2-Person rule in our waiting area until further notice. Take care and stay safe
