02.01.2022 A reminder for those selling any animals at the markets. All livestock must be tagged and marked as per NLIS requirements. They should also be in appropriate condition for transport and sale. All birds/poultry/small animals must have ample room to move, with food and water provided. Plus a method of transport home provided if you want your cage back. ... Animals we can identify that are infested in parasites or clearly suffering illness will be withdrawn from auction and the seller will be required to take them home and treat the issues. This includes things such as stickfast fleas, scales leg mites, lice, respiratory illness etc. management reserves the right to refuse entry to auction, without veterinary inspection. Chicks, ducklings, goslings etc should be 6 weeks old before entry for auction. They cannot maintain their own heat on the bench all day prior to this. Baby rabbits and guinea pigs should be appropriate size and weaned, unless in transit with their mother. Animals that are clearly not fit for sale are obvious. Animals that cant move in their crates will not be accepted. It is your responsibility to provide clean water and food and ensure your animals are fit and appropriate for sale. Buyers, please take time to inspect potential purchases and ensure you are happy before bidding. Unfortunately as animals are sealed inside their transport crate, we are sometimes unable to identify hidden issues thy can only be found on handling. All new animals should always be placed into appropriate quarantine at their new home and treated for parasites as required during this period. Thank you for understanding.
