17.01.2022 "I have loved spending time in nature for as long as I can remember. As a young child, I roamed the forest in Canada. When I go back to Canada, my Mom knows where I am heading, and even though I am now a grandmother, she warns me of the dangers that I must be aware of. I spend as much time bushwalking in Australia, and I am fortunate to live near exceptional bush walks. When out on walks, I observe new things every day, different leaves, different light types, different te...xtures, etc. This mask takes inspiration from the places I surround myself in. I knew I wanted to create a mask of leaves. To get started, I found one that I liked and based all the other leaves on it - taking note of leaves that have been bitten by insects, and other adventures leaves go through. I’ve embroidered the leaves, making sure each leaf is different, reflecting the beauty and diversity of nature." Marina Robins

15.01.2022 "Due to health problems, I made this mask at home. I was very excited about this project and looking forward to participating in a group show after being on lockdown. I admire everyone else's work in Adorned, but I'm very critical of mine. I want to improve my art skills, so I made two masks, a sequinned one and the other embroidered. I made the silver one with the materials our facilitator Liam Benson gave to me. I wasn't satisfied with the silver one because I had used a shop-bought mask instead of making my pattern. I wanted to create a mask using my favourite off-cut material; I've also added sequins and beads to make the pattern stand out." Mehrangiz Sharabiany

12.01.2022 As we move into a new era of program delivery and connection, Artlands 2021 will adopt a flexible, hybrid model, using digital to augment the live experience. P...resented and delivered by Regional Arts Australia, and taking place alongside Junction Arts Festival, Artlands is designed to showcase new thinking, present contemporary work, generate exchange and conversations; the programming champions best practice and strengthens a national network of artists and practitioners working in regional, rural and remote Australia. Artlands 2021 will be a gathering like no other. Take a moment now to mark it in your calendar. You won’t want to miss this.

10.01.2022 "In response to the global crises in 2020, there is one simple shell child’s mask for each continent, offering a response to WHO and government advice for parents mid COVID-19 based on the little knowledge of its effects on children. In March I saw a family pulling out after visiting a supermarket, all members wearing masks except their newborn. In March 2020, children’s masks did not exist. Children remained at school, and in care. In October 2020, we now know post-virus that children can become extremely unwell, and will likely live with rippling emotional, physical and mental effects well after the world has recovered." Kiri Morcombe Morcombe's work is featured in Common Exchange at the gallery, exhibition closes Jan 6 2021

08.01.2022 Why do people like going to galleries? The art and the air con! Incognito is the video work by Adorned filmed during last years COVID restrictions. Each of these artists from urban centres and regional areas of NSW filmed their creative journeys on a single iPhone having culminated into Common Exchange a collaboration between CWA Mundubbera. This film can be view until the 6 of Jan at Mundubbera Regional Art Gallery. Shout out goes to Dara Gill for the editing, liam Benson and Parramatta artist studios Rydalmere for facilitating the project.

03.01.2022 The gallery will close 2pm tomorrow and reopen on the Monday 4th of Jan. After this tumultuous year we would like to say a big thank you for everyone who came in and supported our Regional Gallery by coming in and viewing the exhibitions in person or online via appointment. To our volunteers who spend hours of their own tine ; running the gallery, installing and de-installing exhibitions, promoting, paperwork, organising etc. Your behind the scenes work is worth its weight... in gold ! After we reopen on Jan 4 2021 there will be two days to see "Common Exchange" before it is taken down so come in and see it. Have a safe and festive holiday season and we look forward to seeing you in 2021.
