22.01.2022 Thank you to all of our Mungindi volunteers! There are so many of you, in fact at the last census 28.6% of you volunteered which is much higher then the Australian average at 19%. The town does not function without your community spirit, so thank you!

19.01.2022 To say that our little community has been through hell and back is an understatement. Tonight as most locals know, we lost our Spar Supermarket, Reds Quality Meats and PJs Country Wares in a fire. This has absolutely gutted our community. After battling the drought, then the borders closing and now losing our essential shops, we are in pain. And yet as you looked around tonight, you saw community spirit at its best. People supporting people. To our Firefighters, Ambulance, P...olice Qld and NSW and MPSC staff thank you for your expertise and action. To all the farmers and locals that supplied water trucks and muscle, thank you. Thank you to Adam Marshall, Katrina Humphries, Lester Rogers and Susannah Pearse who took no time to ring and offer support. We have an amazing town and we will not be beaten! 18.01.2022 Not only is it all guns blazing at the RSL Club getting the Mungindi Community Store up and running but the Garden Club are doing their bit today to brighten up the Main Street, especially after the loss of our 3 shops. There is simply no better community to be a part of! Carli Browne Annette Heagney #mymungindi Gardening Australia

18.01.2022 Shafay's Mungindi and the Mungindi Servo have both got some grocery supplies available to help out while we get the pop up supermarket up and running. It is so important at this time that you support our local shops first, before buying goods elsewhere. Thank you to these shops for responding so quickly.

17.01.2022 This incident that occurred on the Qld side of Mungindi on Monday morning has been extremely difficult for our small Mungindi community. Our thoughts are with the family, first responders and the local families whom have lost a young man they cared dearly for. We will continue to do what we do best and support each other through a difficult time. To our neighbours in Goondiwindi, we feel your heartache. Please stay safe.

17.01.2022 Doors are open! Meat has arrived and our friendly staff are serving our beautiful locals!

17.01.2022 OPENING MONDAY!!! The Mungindi Community Store will open tomorrow morning at 8am. We will have more stock arriving as the week goes on so please be patient. 14.01.2022 Its the can do attitude that makes Mungindi so great! After the big flow in the river a few months ago it left the footbridge with caught debris, logs and weeds building up. Thanks to some keen local volunteers today who have fixed the problem. A huge shout out to Stacey Garsed for keeping those boys in line! #mymungindi

14.01.2022 MUNGINDI FIRE APPEAL - It has only been 24hrs since this devastating fire started in Mungindi. We have arranged a Go Fund Me page for any assistance you can help with. This money will be divided in 3 equal shares for the 3 shops that have lost their livelihoods. This money is not necessarily for rebuilding if the owner chooses not too, it is simply a donation towards what they have lost. Please support the Mungindi Progress Association in this appeal. PLEASE NOTE: This is the only official fundraising page that is endorsed by the Mungindi Progress Association. https://www.gofundme.com/f/mungindi-fire-appeal

14.01.2022 Thanks Ben Picton

14.01.2022 To the beautiful people of Clermont Qld, thank you for sending your love our way. We are just absolutely blown away with your kindness at this difficult time. We will distribute these gifts to the key community people affected by the fires. Small towns helping small towns, state v state, but we are united in our love for rural Australia. Thank you xx Clermont Caring for Communities

13.01.2022 What a great day, what a great community! In less then 2 weeks after the fire we have a supermarket and food on the shelves. The community help has been absolutely incredible and we couldnt have done it without the team from SPAR directing us. We are still working on opening on Monday, 14th September and have more stock arriving that day. We will have all the essentials, butcher meat and fruit & veg. When were open, well need your support! #livelocalshoplocal #mymungindi

12.01.2022 To the residents and local business houses, we have heard from MPSC today regarding the cleanup of the fire debris following a meeting with Public Works. Although we were hoping and pushing for the site to be cleared up sooner there have been many road blocks, one of which is the asbestos in some of those buildings. The set time frame is as below: Monday, 28th September - 1st spot removal (to hopefully remove smelling sections) will commence followed by a re spray to settle ...the site. Week of the 6th October - Final clean up of the area will commence We understand that this is affecting businesses, tourism and residents and hopefully we can now look forward to the site clean up. There are many people working on this in the background so thank you for your patience at this time.

12.01.2022 BUSINESS CONFIDENCE SURVEY HAVE YOUR SAY NOW If you own or operate a business in the Moree Plains Shire, then wed like to hear from you.... In order to best advocate for its local businesses when liaising with State and Federal Governments and applying for grant funding for key projects, Council is conducting a Business Confidence Survey. The survey will assist in determining how our local industries are currently tracking, as well as key obstacles and opportunities for future development. With Small Business Month in October quickly approaching, survey respondents are also asked to Have Your Say as to how Council can best support your business through training and networking opportunities. The survey is available to complete online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5BJJ9D5 Council recognises that many local businesses are owner-operated and time poor. In order to thank businesses for their time and contribution in completing the survey, respondents will go in the draw to win one of two $250 Love Local Gift Cards. For the full media release, visit Council's website: https://www.mpsc.nsw.gov.au//993-business-confidence-surve

10.01.2022 We couldnt think of a better person to represent Mungindi in the new Balonne Shire Promo videos. Joan Brownlie is Mungindi through and through, our Progress Association wouldnt be the same without her.

10.01.2022 Were so proud to see a Mungindi local in the spotlight, congratulations Lucy! Lucy Brosnan has always been a supporter of the Mungindi Show Fine Arts section and its wonderful to see her participating in the Bank Art Museum Moree - BAMM Art Fair. Well done Lucy!

08.01.2022 The Progress Association has supported many applications to improve digital connectivity within the Mungindi area and surrounds. We encourage all MPSC residents to please complete this survey so council has the statistics to work with, especially for Mungindi. It only take 5 minutes!

07.01.2022 Its official... we have turned our pop up store into a supermarket! Thank you to all of the locals who are supporting the store. Its a truly incredible town effort. Thank you to Adam Marshall MP for your amazing contribution of $100,000 which has enabled us to get this off the ground. Mungindi you are amazing!

05.01.2022 Have your say... Were just wondering how everyone is going with the water restriction times for using sprinkler systems? We feel that the times allocated arent very winter friendly and we would like to go to council with an alternative option. So please let us know what you think? Perhaps a daily block time would be better than spilt hours for winter? Ie 7am to 11am or 2pm to 6pm? Let us know!

05.01.2022 Carrigan Rd getting resealed will be a game changer for the Mungindi economy, transport and tourism. We are so excited to see this project progressing well. Thank you to Adam Marshall, MPSC and all the locals who have fought for this major project.

04.01.2022 We have been inundated with kind offers of help and supplies, thank you to all that have rung. We are currently concentrating our efforts on setting up the 'pop up' supermarket. Please bare with us while we make this project as high priority.
