11.01.2022 #wisdomwednesday First opened in 1922 by Australian flour millers Mungo Scott Ltd to take advantage of the goods railway line between Wardell Road and Darling Harbour, the Mungo Scott building was used as a processing facility for wheat grown around New South Wales until 2009, when the mill's operations moved to Maldon in Victoria. It then stood vacant for nearly a decade after the last operators, Allied Mills, vacated the site. In 1927 a huge fire in the mill was believed to have been caused by sparks from passing trains igniting the stored flour inside.

02.01.2022 Did you know Mungo Scott Ltd purchased the land now occupied by Mungo Scott Flour Mill from the Railways and Tramways Constructing Authority in 1917, and began construction on the new flour mill store and silo, which began operation June 1922? Fast forward to the 1970s and Mungo Scott had received a variety of transformations and extensions including an air-raid shelter, experimental laboratory, multiple offices, a carpark and large wheat bulk storage silos. Mungo Scott is rich in history with elements of this heritage still reflective across the site.
