24.01.2022 Munupi Arts x NORTH pop-up! We know you couldnt get to the Footy Sale on the Tiwi Islands in March, but we have fabulous news. Munupi Arts is coming to you!... Vic Arcade, Darwin Friday 10.00am - 7.00pm Saturday 10.00am - 5.00pm Sunday 10.00am - 2.00pm Munupi Arts will be exhibiting the work that was originally created for the Footy. All artwork will be at the usual Footy Sale prices, with a little extra 10% off - once in a year opportunity to get your hands on some magnificent Tiwi Art! NORTH will also be offering 10% off the Tiwi Collection for one weekend to NT residents. Pop in on your morning tea/lunch break on Friday, or join us over the weekend. Please note that social distancing rules do apply and we will be restricting the number of people allowed in the shop at any given time to comply with this. We can't wait to see you there

16.01.2022 Born in 1982 in Darwin, Pauletta grew up on Paru, an outstation on Melville Island. She attended school at Wurrumiyanga (Nguiu) Public school then Wurrumiyanga ...Catholic High School where she completed her HSC. Pauletta is also known for her bombing of Darwin paintings, an important historical story for the Tiwi people. She incorprates the local flora of the Tiwi Islands into her painting of the Kulama ceremony and images of the Bombing of Darwin. Please see our Website for more information. https://jilamara.com/

06.01.2022 Established in 1989, Munupi Arts & Crafts Association is located in Pirlangimpi, Melville Island, in the Tiwi Islands. The artist owned centre is a friendly stu...dio, with a strong sense of ownership and pride. This environment encourages new forms of expressing traditional and contemporary Tiwi culture, as seen in the diverse array of individual styles. Featured Artist Mario Walarmerpui is an innovative and accomplished carver. He was born on Bathurst Island, moving to Pirlangimpi at age seventeen. He is often commissioned by his Tiwi relatives to carve the imposing Tutini for Pukamani ceremonies. Mario has now also started to carve and paint intricate and vibrant canvas works. Don't miss Munupi Art at our 2020 Darwin Art Fair, 7-9 August. #DarwinArtFair
